H.264 appears to yield better performance, less framerate drop The profile I'm currently using for H.264 is 'Main' Keyframe ' 10 seconds', '3.1'. Lower keyframes appeared to result in frequent game freezes. I was also able to further increase smoothness by setting processor affinity in SC2 to CPU 0 and FME to CPUs 1, 2 and 3. I would imagine this would assist those with older quadcores. I5/I7 rigs will most likely not need that. The stream is now smooth and looks good at a relatively low bitrate. Just working on audio right now.

Yes well, if you had shared any of those 'secrets' we wouldn't have this problem. Of course, it's your right to keep a tight grip on the information you researched, it just isn't going to help the community at all. Here's a bunch of settings for those of you who have connections that can handle 1.5mb+ upstream. This will produce 720p quality video roughly equivalent to GLHF.tv. Ensure that your h.264 profile is set to main for this and your keyframes are as low as possible. Will require a fairly hefty PC in order for it to work. Tweak to your individual requirements. http://i44.tinypic.com/332xu0j.png http://i40.tinypic.com/ifmsky.png Alternative of course (which I'm going to hazard a guess is used by GLHF and others), is to get a Blackmagic Intensity or Shuttle, output in HDMI to that and then capture directly from it in the highest resolution available using FME. Less resource intensive, higher and more reliable framerates. Pricey though, so not for the faint of heart or wallet.

It doesn´t seem to have any of the resolutions I have and I don´t really want to set my resolution to low. 1280x1024 is close to the FMLE choice but then the FMLE would be higher res since it was 1280x1080. My max is 1050 so can´t get the 1080. At the moment it adapts to my mouse pointer so it scrolls after my screen, but that would be wierd ingame I guess. You should not use a 16:10 resolution at all if you can avoid it. Ideally you should be using a 16 resolution in order for it to properly scale. Try 1280x720. It may look a little odd on your monitor, but it will output much better on the stream.

Edit: Looks like simply closing and opening the browser again between broadcast sessions helps.

Adding your stream to the teamliquid.net User Streams list There are no requirements to add your stream to the non-featured streams list on the site, here is how you should prepare. Step 1: Make a thread with all the relevant information in the appropriate forum (SC2 general mostly). Your name, your stream's name, a link to the stream, what the stream will feature, why your stream is better than everyone elses, visual quality, and epeen size. Name the thread: [Stream] Stream name (Ex: [Stream] Ghen playing starcraft) Step 2: Send a private message to SonuvBob here Include a link to your stream's thread and a URL directly to the stream. Step 3: Be patient! It won't take too long, but sometimes Admins take a few days off for family, etc.

We've been promoting and help people move from livestream and onto ustream from the start, I'm merely stating a lot of time and effort went into getting our stream to be higher quality than just this. I don't want there to be any misconceptions about our quality because a lot of time and effort went into it to make it higher quality. I hardly think that's unreasonable and implying we don't help the community is just snide. If we thought it were as easy as writing a guide, we would. That said, I actually like your "newbie friendly" casts as you put it earlier. It has a Zero Punctuation meets Starcraft 2 commentary feel to it which is very entertaining.

It just doesn't help in the tutorial thread to post about how your stream is good quality after a ton of tweaking and not adding anything to the tutorial. That's the rub here. No one is faulting you for keeping to your self whatever you feel is best. I'm sure there's a good reason and I don't care about it. I just want to keep the thread to the tutorial and helping people as they try to use it. Thanks

Thanks Perfectly valid and fair enough, I was only commenting because people were using the term "glhf quality" as a benchmark. Like I said, if I thought we could meaningfully contribute to the guide, I'd be all over it and I think your efforts should be much appreciated.
