I guess my perfect SC2 keyboard would actually look something like the Logitech G13 Advanced Gameboard. Only problem is it doesn't have enough keys, one more row would be nice. I know you can change between key layouts, but I don't want my control groups to be the same keys as say the F keys. That and the stupid little joystick, if that was a big fat ctrl key instead then I might buy it. What I really dislike about the average basic keyboard is the placement of the shift and ctrl keys (which I'm sure everyone uses A LOT!). If you use the left hand side of the keyboard, hitting the ctrl key and say group 3 at the same time is very difficult for me. I basically have to twist and curl my pinky finger, I actually end up hitting the key with the surface of my pinky nail. I have no idea how NADA does it. I could choose to use the thumb instead, but that would mean my hand would be hovering over the edge of the keyboard, which is not exactly efficient as there are no keys in that area. The other possibility is using the right hand side of the keyboard, but here the shift key is placed very poorly. It's not a good thing to use the thumb for both shift and ctrl as it slows down either subtracting or adding units to a group. I guess this is the result of taking an average keyboard and pretend that it was designed with SC in mind. I truly hope you guys will think outside the box and make a keyboard which is optimized for SC2, rather than limiting yourself to an existing layout (just checked out the keyboards done by Razor so far.. yikes! all use the default layout as base). I don't get the "Let's add shit load of keys and then we have a gamer keyboard" theory. The goal has to be to not have the hand move at all, basically have all keys available in your "hand area" in order to speed up keystrokes. In that sense Logitech got it right. Below is my version of an SC2 keyboard optimized for right side usage (also minimizes annoyances with the keyboard hitting mousepad, which can occur for some). ![]() Place your thumb over the ctrl key and your index over the shift key (the one next to Tab). This layout feels completely natural to me. Only time you have to move your hand from the main area is when hitting or designating F-keys. Maybe there's a better way to do those. The placement of A is self explanatory. Tab is for cycling through subgroups (different units types within one group), a feature that was included in War3 and most likely also in SC2. Space is placed for convenient thumb use. All the blank keys are for hotkeys. Now if all the keys (especially keys such as shift, ctrl and groups) were remappable then the default layout wouldn't be too important. Just curious but what kind of problems do you see in keys being programmable? Not that I'm a big fan of it, but I can't see why it would be a problem.

Otherwise I am glad sc2 has some e-sports partners. Razer rocks anyway ![]() NaDa groups them fast by using the bone right under neath the pinky finger. Tasteless mentioned this in Season 1 or 2 of GOM.

Ah man so that's how!!! haha thank you so much, I've been wondering for a long time lol.. well he must be having a keyboard with tall keys then. One thing that still escapes me, is how he adds units to an existing group using Shift. Assuming Shift is located over his Ctrl, I mean he would have to move his hand which I dont think he does. Anyways hopefully Razor will make a keyboard where Ctrl and Shift are both remappable. Imagine having Ctrl at "V" and Shift at "R"... oh my god... my game would speed up so much.

Personally I don't really care if I have LCD display on my keyboard, or if I have 16 macro keys etc. What I care about is how I FEEL when I press some key. So I'll buy Razer product when they stop producing some flat membrane type keyboards and put brown/black cherry switches inside.

Personally I'm big fan of flat razer keyboards but only for typing text. For gaming I dislike them because I like better feel when I press some key. If someone wants to buy some good, expensive keyboard I would really recommend to check out other keyboards and not just logitech/razer. There are some other models that use mechanical switches: Unicomp keyboards - these keyboards have buckling springs, that is taken from IBM model M which is probably most famous keyboard and arguably best keyboard for typing. Filco Majestouch - These keyboards use blue, brown or black cherry switches. For gaming it is considered that black>brown>blue. But it is not that simple because black are linear while brown/blue are tactile switches, so someone should try it before buying. iRocks KR-6230 - uses brown switches, quite good and not that expensive ABS M1 - uses black alps copies which are nice switches, although most people prefer cherry switches. This keyboard could be "best buy" because it is least expensive and still quite nice Deck Keyboards - also cherry switches, but kinda overpriced iOne Scorpius M10 - cheap keyboard with blue cherry switches, only problem is that blue switches are too light Steelseries 7G - black cherry switches but too much money das keyboard - blue switches, nice keyboard, but expensive I don't know what kind of keyboard will this new razer be, but seriously guys, don't just look "ooo it's so beautiful with macro keys, media keys, etc", go to store and try some keyboards and try KEYS, and not just the looks.

About the layout... i see no reason people would support the absence of a keypad and / or arrows, just because it'll be starcraft optimized doesn't mean i won't use it for anything else... edit: my silly idea ![]() the razer key would be basically a button you can assign any key to, but not a macro... basically a duplicate key of your choice. It would be awesome for protoss to have P close by :D And maybe stuff like that won't be very relevant in SC2 if we can reassign keys, but i'm pretty sure plenty of people will want to play Brood War too with it, and something like this would prolly help... Then again, maybe such a different keyboard would be a bit too extreme to be "legal" in competitive play.
