Hello TL,
Since we have 2 A-series tournaments going on side-by-side (sort of). I would like to open a discussion regarding specifics toward Production Quality. The games are phenomenal ofc. But in terms of Production Qualities, what do you like, what do you dislike, how to improve, etc etc.
As always, glhf.

What do you think yourself ?

It’s fine. It’s the usual online casting with player webcam on.
I do wish rotti or pig did some of the casting though

I just wish Artosis can be a Guest Commentator just like Sturgeon.
Just once or twice a week. He can cast from his home, i have no complaint @ALL. im thinking too much...

Play around with brood war, get a feel for the stupid hard difficulty, and watch ArtosisCasts. You really need the game to be endlessly explained in order to appreciate it if you haven't played it a ton. Everything you learn is relevant since the game hasn't been patched in 24 years. It requires a lot of homework, but ASL is great and I enjoy the games more than sc2 even though sc2 is what I grew up with and is basically all I've played.

I'm now convinced RSL is AS GOOD AS GSL. only missing piece is Artosis, A man can wish.

Honestly: No, you don't need a lot of homework. Just watch ASL, enjoy it, accept that you might not get everything. I know that because I did the same, started watching it this year, still don't care much for BroodWar, but it is a fun experience

Most of Tastosis' commentary or even ArtosisCasts is not particularly technical and if it is, they almost always explain the context. Frankly, I was surprised at how often they will reiterate even very basic BW mechanics for newbies (say, high-ground vs. low-ground), considering that most of their audience will know this in and out.

Agreed, since Artosis left Korea I've been almost exclusively watching him cast games on his YT channel and the game is just so deep lol, no way I'm gonna need all these intricate knowledge tidbits which matter at a (very) high level of play, when you play some BW yourself and see players make it look like they're playing SC2 you can already appreciate how mechanically impressive all these things are they are doing in that old-ass engine and that's just a big part of the fun already, at least for me.

Held off on posting til the tournaments actually happened.
I think both tournaments have been good additions to the lineup. They both felt like generic online tournaments in the beginning portions, with nothing to really complain about it.
RSL felt mostly like GSL. Caster lineup was good and better than maestros, and production values were all fine.
Maestros was also great, and probably the better/more memorable production of the two. The LAN portion was more exciting and done better than the RSL. I didn't think French rap about an SC tournament would be good, but somehow it was.
More of both tournaments in the future please. As a rule, I prefer *more* tournaments over higher quality single tournaments, so I hope they don't blow their budgets and are able to run for longer periods of time.
