The qualifiers for GSL Super Tournament 2 have concluded, determining fourteen players who will play in the final GSL tournament of the year. Trap and Rogue, current Code S finalists, will be given seeds to complete the sixteen-player roster.
The race to finish in the top eight of the WCS Korea standings and earn a Global Finals spot has become clearer following the qualifiers. Maru, soO, and Dark have clinched spots by winning seed-awarding tournaments, while Trap and Rogue are mathematically confirmed on points. The three remaining spots will be decided by how points the other contenders earn at the Super Tournament, and whether or not Classic receives permission from the Korean military to travel overseas.
While most of the Global Finals hopefuls managed to qualify for the Super Tournament, Dear saw his chances diminish heavily after dropping out in the qualifiers, while Hurricane was eliminated entirely from the running.
Super Tournament 2 will be held between October 3rd and 6th, with 30,000,000 KRW in prize money (~$25,000 USD) on the line alongside WCS Korea points.

Some official clarity on whether or not Classic can actually go would be really nice to have some time soon. Just too much guessing based off of very little actual information.
Also would help with the esports fan fic writing for the perfect Super Tournament
By the way because the map order for these qualifiers is set and therefore Acropolis was the last map in every match, we can extrapolate the winrates for that map:
PvZ: 3-3 (50%) TvP: 2-3 (40%) ZvT: 5-0 (100%)
Small sample size, but matches the general consensus that it's not a good map for Terran.

Artosis said on the Pylon Show that he is certain that Classic is not allowed to go, because he wasn't allowed either at Katowice ( I think ist was), because of his upcoming military service.

Artosis seems to be going off the same information everyone else is. Which is not a lot.

The date is November 2, Blizzard just announce the day before that this will be last time Starcraft 2 is on stage at Anaheim.
As we cut from Rotti sheading tears at the analysis desk, Tastosis hype the crowd; a towering man emerged from the smoke and light, the Shield of Aiur having overcome all of his demon look to be crown the ultimate protoss. After crushing the Silver Surfer in group stage, he went blow for blow in an epic match with the reigning world champion Serral and emerge victorious. His rest was cut short with another monster lurking around the corner. The Terran Prince himself defied him, but despite having just crush his fan favourite Reynor, he was no match for the king of Protoss.
Stats is showered with applause, we cut to mike Morhaime, Kim Phan, Day 9 and MisterBitter in the crowd all chanting his name.
Then sudden silence a slow music build up and went we hit the climax... well nothing, but 12 second later another guys come out, somehow looking both confuse and bored, he step up uneasily to Smix and stay stiff as a wooden plank until it's time to shake his opponnent hands.
This is a man no one saw coming, overcoming adversity from the get go, he took early decisive loss at the hands of Serral and needed an epic comeback vs Heromarine down 0-1, winning the last game after the German terran, 60 supply up decided to a-move all his SVC on destructible rocks then quit because terran is too weak. It looked grimed foe his chances, but from then on it was nothing but domination, a victory over GSL champion Trap send him to the quarter where he faced up against the perennial best american Neeb and after that it was the surprising herO that was no match for him.
Both players go back to their computers for maybe the last time ever, two men will compete for the right to be call the greatest Starcraft player in the world. The crowd hold his breath in anticipation as the familiar sound of the SC2 clock resonate in the arena for the last time.
The fury start; adepts shades left and right, oracles zooms in mineral lines, cannons and shield batteries are build and DT are expertly warp in from warp prisons. 50 minutes latter as the dust settle, a giant luminous 4 throne over the head of one of the player, while the other has nothing but a circle of shame.
The victor, walk toward the trophy as the crowd wake up from the stupor the match has left them in to applaud him, but as Tasstless gets ready to scream his name, he suddenly turn back. In a move reminiscent of Achilles dragging Hector behind his chariot under the walls of Troy, he jogs a little to go shake Stats hands as he try to pack up his keyboard.
After a bad Tastosis pun to kill the time, our ultimate world champion finally lift the trophy and kinda smile, while Tastless finally gets to say the last words of his casting career:
DEAR IS YOUR WORLD CHAMPION!!!!!
Smix goes back on the stage, we learn that our champion feels great and that with his money he will invite his practice partner to the restaurant.
The camera zooms out and then the stream cut to the semi-final of the WOW Arena tournament, both nothing and way to many fucking things are happening on the screen.

If Classic has to drop out and nobody passes Dear by points during the ST, Dear makes it anyway.
there's a chance he's out just by bracket draw, just because it's impossible for someone NOT to pass him
I don't think that's quite the case, only TY could tie him in points with the guaranteed 450 for RO8, no one can pass him with a first round win alone.

TY would tie him with RO4. Standings in OP are already taking the 225 for qualifying today into consideration. TY's by far the closest to Dear and he needs a RO4 to tie. Everyone else needs finals or better. It just seems more likely to me that the finalists will end up being players who are already ahead of Dear.
