The qualifiers and Challenger tournaments for the final WCS Circuit championship of the year have concluded with sixteen players earning seeded spots in the group stage of the event. WCS Fall will take place in Montreal, Canada between September 6th and September 8th.
The WCS Fall qualifiers offered very few surprises, seeing the favorites triumph in nearly every region. Serral and Neeb were dominant yet again in Europe and North America, sweeping Reynor and Scarlett respectively to win the Challenger tournaments. China's TIME also earned a finals sweep, continuing his run of good form by going 4-0 against Cyan in his national qualifier.
SpeCial won the Latin American qualifier/Copa America for the seventh consecutive time, but had to overcome a stiff challenge from Kelazhur who fought him to a near standstill in the 4-3 finals. Has will be hopeful for a return to the WCS Circuit after winning the Taiwan/Hong Kong/Macau/Japan qualifier—he won the WCS Summer qualifier as well, but was unable to attend due to a visa issue (despite playing in WCS Spring).
Finally, the Oceania/South-East Asia qualifier saw its nationality controversy continue for another season, with ButAlways (student visa) and RiSky (dual New Zealand-British citizenship) claiming the two regional seeds.
Excluding two more deserving players from the ro32 group stage is a small price to pay for giving players in a less developed regional scene something to play for. If they were seeded deeper into the tournament it would be an issue, but two ro32 seeds is fine.

For sure. I dare say we can expect a few solid EU players to go to Montreal even if only 4 got a trip paid through the qualifiers. Best of luck to everyone!

Not as long as Reynor is in there... For Neeb and NA i'd agree.
It seems Reynor is smart enough to keep his special tactics for the important matches against Serral, though. Losing 4-0 again is quite "suspicious" in my eyes But I admit i didn´t see the games.

This sounds like something Special might have done against Kelazhur. Keeping his good builds for GSL With Reynor, I'm not so sure

I also didn't see the match, simply because I was dead tired and had to go to bed. I think the qualifiers started at 15:00 CEST and it kept on going on until really late. Reynor in particular had already had some tough matches, so I wonder how much brain juice anyone of them had left for what seems like a rather unimportant Bo7: Both players were qualified, both players are already qualified for Blizzcon so basically they were playing for $400 after being guaranteed $1,200. Serral might have been hungrier to get even and that could have been the extra motivation he needed to defeat Reynor 4-0.

Twitch Past Broadcast Streams, friend. It’s how I keep up with The GSL without waking up at 230 AM all the time :-)
