Though keep in mind, that the best players don't use the best "key configuration". Stephano comes to mind, who as a zerg does not use camera hotkeys. Heromarine who playes mostly with grid hotkeys. Most Koreans use the standard Hotkeys, espacially if they have a BW background. They had teamhouses and coaches, and nobody in that environment thought it was worth investing time into. Thought there is http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/sc2-strategy/341878-thecore-advanced-keyboard-layout , probably the most ergonomic and efficient layout, yet the gains possible to be made in this area are neglectable. When I was new to starcraft I always was taught not to use the all army hotkey, yet most pros use it pretty consistantly. Mhhh, good luck on your journey, cheers. | ||

I am a 5th year sc2 player, so I knew the game without all army hotkey. I think it was put in HOTS to simplify army control but destroyed your scouting part in the other side. Many pros accord to tell it is a false assistance. Only use for the final rush against a nearly dead opponent, so you can "click" on it on the UI even if there is no predefined hotckey. Also, there is an other large debate about terran hotkeys: production facilties in one control group, or in 3 different control groups ? Some pros use Racks Facto and Spatio in one control group (often hotkey "4"), others use Racks on "4", Facto on "5" and Spatio on "6". Furthermore I think it is very interesting to use hotkey for Ebays too. | ||

I think default would be more common, because of the mindset of not being able to rebind. I agree with jimminy_kriket , try the defaults, if you keep messing something up because it is hardwired into you, enjoy the possibility to rebind it. It made me emotional when I was told that and then actually watching pros stream myself. A good tool to have if used right, sometimes just helpful to find specific units lost on the map, or to get a terran army back together. So yeah, I guess thats the point, don't take anything to serious, go to the sources, there are plenty of pros streaming and try to pick up on the things they do. Btw, anyone else picked up on what stephano does when macroing early game, selecting all hatcheries and clicking on the one that already has 3 larva, so it can keep making more larva? | ||

Wow that is a sick macro trick! Would be cool to have somone like jackattack do the math to see how much of an advantage it gives you. | ||
