I don’t think anyone can change the passing of the seasons (laughs). A lot of time has flowed by, and I need to think about my life going forward. Whatever I end up doing, I’ll do it while remaining thankful that I remained in the minds of some fans. I’d be thankful if when people think of StarCraft, they remembered that there was once a player called Jaedong. That's so sad to me People will remember you and if they don't i will be there to remember them I wish JD the best, no matter what he does now, hopefully no OW though hehe

Too bad his career does not end on a high and that 2016 was so weird, but hopefully we will see him again in the future somewhere, somehow.

Jaedong was and is, and will forever be, my favorite Starcraft player of all time. His dedication and focus and desire to win at all costs was inspiring. I will never forget that there was a player named Jaedong, and that in my heart, he was the greatest player of all time. In 2011 I made this image in Photoshop to be sent to him as inspiration as part of a package started on TL by a fan in a thread called "A Zergling for Jaedong". I hope he remembers it. I'm no artist, but he inspired me so much that I had to make something. Fare thee well, Jaedong. May the wings of a thousand mutalisks fly you to your next adventure. ![]()

Can't wait to see him on Afreeca, if he ends up there. Maybe if he shows up, FlaSh won't be 20% higher than everybody else in winrate... Also, he's so freaking cute

There are a lot of variables.

Shame he never recovered his flame from the second half of 2013 in sc2. He started that year being the butt of many jokes, but ended it rivaling Soulkey, soO, and Life as the best Zerg in the world.

I did not know he wasn't officially retired, wasn't he already streaming BW etc? Nope, we didn't see anything from him after his Code A match, apart from a Heroes showmatch. Since he was still on EG, he probably was not allowed to do something like streaming BW on afreeca, since EG = Amazon = Twitch. How EG got any ROI from JD this year is something nobody knows, really weird tbh. Hopefully he can start streaming BW now, although he will surely not do it immediately, just like Flash. Btw I think Jaedong was considered the best zerg for a while, or at least tied first place, but never the best player. Still a huge achievement to do that in both StarCrafts.

It just managed to be somewhat equal sometimes. I just hope Jaedong will find his niche and can start a lucrative career somewhere. I'm a little worried about all the programers starting streaming on Afreeca etc as I'm pretty sure 20 years down the road they can't do that anymore. So yeah, just all the best to him. ![]()

Would have been in 2013. I also don't recall anyone ever saying Flash was considered the best SC2 player. Jaedong was never the best sc2 player, but in 2013 he was considered one of the best zergs. He had like 5-6 Finals where he placed 2nd and in Blizzcon when he beat Dear (who was considered one of the best sc2 players as he had just won GSL and was crushing people). I remember people saying Dear would 3-0 Jaedong which didn't happen. I don't think Jaedong was ever the best player at SC2, but he was definitely at the top in 2013 and his results prove that. Was a good/sad year for a Jaedong fan because of all his second places, especially when he made some really silly decisions ![]()

I cannot think Zerg, or even Starcraft, without thinking Jaedong. I never met him in person, but I saw him live in 2008 in Cologne at the World Cyber Games. Via internet stream, I later saw the MSL finals Jaedong versus Flash, the one with the infamous power outage. Also via stream, I saw his first GSL appearance. Jaedongs games were always something else. In a sense, Jaedong got me into Starcraft. I were at the WCG finals to watch Warcraft III. Just to get good seats, I arrived earlier and watched those Starcraft matches. Then I saw how stacked mutas took out marines, one by one.

I don't think either ever were considered the best in sc2. Jaedong was top-tier in the second half of 2013 but not consistently and he was always bested in the finals aside from ASUS ROG. Flash had two strong peaks in the early days of HotS and in the second half of 2014. Neither of which put him on the world throne. Bogus, Life and Soulkey had him beat in early HotS, while Zest, soO, and Maru at a minimum had him beat during the latter peak. Then there's the issue of Flash never getting past the ro16 in GSL... Though if it came down to it, I think Flash beat out Jaedong in sc2. He was more consistent, competed in Korea (epsecially during the Terran massacre of 2014), and flat out had more fearsome peaks. ...but at least Jaedong kicked his ass in the two encounters they met :p

I think you underestimate how dominant Flash was leading up to his IEM Toronto win. I remember that TL put him only on 3rd place in the Power Rank which was highly controversial because most of the posters thought he deserved #1. http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/starcraft-2/466067-power-rank-august-2014 just look at his record in that month: + Show Spoiler + edit: that's not saying he was the definitive #1 player at the time but he had serious claims to be ranked #1.
