I think the confusion here comes from the fact that it differs depending on the language. For english it seems to be used primarily for dates. https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/circa says "Used only before a date or measure, never after" under usage, but on some of the other languages this note isn't present and it's just used as a synonym for about / approximately. Since money isn't a measure (or a date, obviously), it's probably not the correct usage in english.
Maybe I should add that since I'm not a language expert, or even a native english speaker, you shouldn't take what I say as fact.
This sure went off topic fast.

It's common to say "circa" in German, as well.

In English, "circa" is not used to describe money. It is only used for dates.

Well why make meaningful investments when you can make emotional ones

that statement makes perfect sense to me, both sarcastically and sincerely

Oh yeah the self destruction of SC2... kind of sad to remember how she and Boxer got shit on for paying their players flights to foreign tournaments.

Seriously?
Nay, what is done is done. Let`s put it behind.

Yeah let's put it behind and spend half the thread discussing if the usage of "circa" by a non-native speaker was proper or not, instead of, you know, anything that has any actual significance to this game or its scene.
👌

I`m just trying to avoid superfluous argument, because there's a lot to be said for that "Axiom-clique" bois.

Unfortunately, [redacted because I don't want Jessica to stare hard at me and burn me to a crisp]
Maybe it's me trying to be an optimist, but was SlayerS really unsuccessful? They won multiple GSTLs, GSLs, and other premier tournaments, and at one point had 1/4 of the players in Code S. They were the start for so many iconic players (MMA, Taeja, Dark, etc. etc.)
Sure they disbanded in an unfortunate way, but in the world of eSports, that's almost the rule rather than the exception. IM is gone, EG is inactive, Prime is really dead, etc. But in the meantime, SlayerS left a massive legacy on Starcraft 2 and eSports.

This certainly explains why she wanted to much power within the team haha

Gives you an idea of how much it will take for esports to become self-sustaining. There's some sort of drama with LoL where a team coach who makes millions in revenue off league is criticizing Riot because he's still not self-sustaining.

I'm unsure what the point of this thread is here? Bashing Jessica because she made a bad investment?

To highlight how lucky Boxer is, and to give hope to geeks everywhere.

Sounds about right. Axiom cost more than $200,000 to operate.

How big of a celebrity Jessica was then and is now? Just curious.
I'd always wanted to know more about the Boxer-Jessica love story. Anything written on TL about it?

i wonder how much uncle mike lost of Starcraft: Ghost. prolly more than half a mil.
people try stuff and sometimes it fails badly.

well since nothing interesting is happening these days I guess I'll subscribe to this thread...
Srsly, that's a ton of money, but if I was rich I guess I'd spend it on esports too

And to think, with all that money they still couldn't treat Eve like a real player and let her actually practice rather than just be a mascot for the team. Honestly Eve was a better player when she started than she was when she left and went to Azubu.
