Blizzard and our eSports partners consider the integrity of competition of the utmost importance, and we expect all of our players to share the same values as a matter of respect to their fellow competitors, as well as viewers. While the vast majority of WCS competition exhibits good sportsmanship, two instances of player misconduct have come to the WCS Administration team’s attention during the most recent WCS Europe qualifiers. These involved violations of the World Championship Series Player Handbook and Battle.net Account conduct policies.
“GunGFuBanDa” and “jeysen” – WCS Europe Qualifier #5
A conversation between “jeysen” and “GunGFuBanDa” came to the WCS Administration team’s attention after a match in the qualifier. The players were discussing potential match fixing. Collusion, as referred to in section 16.I of the WCS Player Handbook, is a very serious offense. While the players did not come to an agreement and portions of the conversation may have been in jest, it is clear that both players negotiated potential match fixing.
“GungGFuBanDa” and “jeysen” will be suspended from Season 1 of WCS in 2015. Both players will also remain on disciplinary probation for the remainder of the 2015 WCS Seasons. Any future Code of Conduct violation may result in immediate suspension and disqualification.
In addition, section 16.C of the WCS Player Handbook states that any player disputes should forwarded to the tournament organizer/administrator first and foremost.
“Lillekanin” – WCS Europe Qualifier #5
After review from the WCS Administration team, “Lillekanin” was found to have violated multiple policies from the WCS Player Handbook in the Online Event and Equipment Settings (12.0), Online Tournament Rules (13.0), and Player Code of Conduct (16.0). He was disqualified from Qualifier #5, and will be suspended from the rest of WCS Season 1 in 2015. “Lillekanin” will remain on disciplinary probation for the remainder of the 2015 WCS Seasons, and any future Code of Conduct violation may result in immediate suspension and disqualification.
Additional Violations during WCS Qualifiers
The above actions were violations of our WCS Player Handbook. Not all disciplinary actions will always be announced. This includes account closures for infractions of the Battle.net conduct policies due to reports from players in the qualifiers, the community, or our own investigations.
The WCS Administration team is also aware of other reported infractions of our Behavior rule (16.B in the WCS Player Handbook) on various social media and other public locations by players competing in the World Championship Series. Warnings will continue to be issued when players are in violation of the Code of Conduct, and further action may be taken after additional review. We take all reports of misconduct very seriously and will investigate all matters to maintain the ongoing confidence of our competitors and viewers.
