There was a game in the SC2 WoL Beta where WhiteRa went for REALLY early chargezealots, and gave the zealots in the back attack commands to the zealots in the front to trigger the charge animation.
Also reminded me of the elfi skytrain where you lift your own immortals and sentries with the phoenixes to save them from the roaches :D

It's nice, but is it enough?

How to really rush in LoTV:
Step One - Send 3 SCVs on the map Step Two - Build Herc Step Three, have Herc grapple each SCV and appear at your opponents base almost instantly ??? Build Cyclone

If anyone has played Advance Wars and know the APC Waypoint strategy for spamming Mechs, you'll understand why Herc - SCV Rush will be the best strategy.

Well, I hope we can see some multiplayer soon(and I mean serious mp, not just 2v2). Can't wait to see all of the changes that are going to happen in the beta!
|
Only one thing: Want beta. NOW.
Okay, I just have to write down some thoughts: - Holy shit. Lots of the changes are crazy. It's good to see that Blizzard is taking the risk. The beginning of the beta will be hilarious, because there will be tons of broken strategies. - The cloaked banshees seem to be stupid. Banshees are perfectly fine atm. - Holy shit, that nydus worm. - FINALLY automated tournaments. - And of course: Yay, lurkers! I think they'll be not as strong as in BW, but they'll help zerg to break defensive opponents while being forced to actually do something. (especially in combination with the new swarm hosts)
Overall, I'm excited. The mineral change is the most important change of them all. It completely changes the dynamics of the game.

Just watched the vids. OMFG ZERG EPICCCCCC

From what I see, the damage of the corruptor's new move was reduced dramatically from the video (which is a darned good thing).
Also, apparently interceptors sent out by a special carrier ability are invincible and have a timer. [two types of interceptors?]
Mass battleship + scan to their base and mass teleport is going to be extremely powerful.

Mass battleship + scan to their base and mass teleport is going to be extremely powerful. BC warp doesn't need vision. It'd be risky to do a blind jump, but it's possible.

A champion that can hook?
A champion that is pretty much exactly Kog'maw from League of Legends?
Automated tournaments?
More workers/smaller patches to cut game times in half, make the game more fluid/mobile and more exciting?
Oh Blizzard, my passion. It tingles.

disrupters = scarabs. why not go all the way and give reaver :[ reavers are boring thats why It's like the most fun protoss unit ever created by a stretch..... its kinda outdated & boring to me.that & medic from BW. You know nothing, Jon Snow. 2014. I somehow doubt you've actually seen pro-level reaver play.

heh i dont think many of these changes will go thru multiplayer at the end.
It is just too much...3 corruptors popping nexus under 10 sec...probably nerfed
nydus...RIP forge expansion?
|
Biggest thing: No dark archons and no goliath.
Cyclones are too op and lurkers need a buff
leave my immortal armor alone

aaaaaaand zerg seems like being the punching ball yet again

nydus...RIP forge expansion? Dude, stop thinking about balance. That will change a lot even during the live game. It's the design that we can discuss.
I still cant believe how bold Blizzard is and how they focused on skill units rather then the regular hard counters and "cool" effects. Something tells Dustin was not the main man behind these changes.

So I have one major concern and this is nothing to do with the individual changes, any units or anything like that. In fact the changes seem cool. I think that making the game so micro intensive makes the game almost impossible to pick up. Increasing the skill cap is great for professional players, but it increases gaps between players all through the ranks.
I struggle to deal with a DT in my base, a couple of banshees will end the game for me, I can't split against banelings so focus firing them isn't exactly easier. With new units able to take out a whole worker line in seconds, I feel I'm just going to lose games faster. That isn't more exciting, that's more frustrating.
Of course now it's too late to not go with this design philosophy, but my solution would be to change the way a lot of these work. If you make these abilities harder to use - it keeps the skill cap there for the top players, but means that when terrible players play each other it isn't about who can attack with their game ending unit fastest. A good example of this is blink (or the Herc for that matter), it's something that cannot be used effectively by low level players despite it being great in the hands of pros.
Maybe the game will work differently than I expect, but I don't think we'll find out until the game is released as most people involved in the game/scene are good enough for this not to matter. The problem is the consequences are that new players will struggle to get into multiplayer and the number of active players will decline.
Also before people suggest Archon mode - I can see why people would enjoy it, but it's not for me. I'm not a fan of team games (behind a desk at least) - too much blame involved. Maybe this expansion isn't for me.
Whoah that's too down a note to end it on. On the plus side I'm sure the esports scene will get a boost.
