a key thing to keep in mind is that you don't -have- to micro. Diehards like you and me like to feel epic and micro our stuff like the pros we idolize because it's cool. For casuals, not microing isn't as bad as the opponent probably isn't microing either.

Nice. But I have the feeling that they won't be as good because of the way the AI works in SC2. Forming arcs around them renders them useless. Seems like Blizzard rather intents them for sieges...


You realise forming arcs around lurkers was always the counter right?

Dude, stop thinking about balance. That will change a lot even during the live game. It's the design that we can discuss.

I still cant believe how bold Blizzard is and how they focused on skill units rather then the regular hard counters and "cool" effects. Something tells Dustin was not the main man behind these changes.

Browder's off SC2, at least for the most part. They brought on several devs of the cancelled C&C Generals 2, so I imagine it's mostly them and Kim.

But it happens much smoother in sc2 AI.

On the other hand, units clump more.

So theres pros and cons. We can adjust when necessary

Everything looks damn broken, but its still not balanced. The economic change seens too drastic, the Banshee, Tempest, Thor and Corruptor are clearly broken atm. The prism and nydus changes also looks exaggerated.
Said that, i loved the direction they went for. The new concept for SH, BC and Carrier is amazing. Do some damage and get out before the enemy engages, and in a late game scenario!
The designs for Herc, and ravager are good and its great to have the lurker back ^^. Hercs might make TvT more awesome, shooting those hooks on tanks, Ravager have this amazing positional anti-ff shot and lurkers deal splash damage with ranged tech, ZvZ is probably saved too
Not sure about cyclone and disruptor, they look silly. "Mech needs a way to deal with ultralisks" and "Protoss needs splash damage for the opponent to micro against" Would love to see 2 new units for protoss, throwing the disruptor on the trash bin, and the cyclone i just don't get what they are supposed to do for terran.
Liked other changes, but its too much stuff to write about ^^.
In PvZ the zerg can make the situation spire out of control but protoss can adept to the situation.

they should definitely up the supply limit as well

pcs have come a long way since sc2 got out, hardware-wise it would be easy to slightly increase the visible area of the screen, up the supply limit to 300, and have really epic battles :o

TFT is still the biggest. Changed damage/armor types, overall caster nerf, tavern heroes, buildable shops, 1 more hero per race, eight new units, a bunch of new upgrades.

This comes pretty close, though.

I thought overwatch seemed interesting, in a good way. But, since SC 2 isn't being replaced... I dislike more about LotV than I like. I like the idea of a lower tech unit being able to break force fields. And, the herc at least seems cool/fun. I think they should leave the tempest alone/revert and give the oracle an irradiate like spell. I'm not a huge fan of seeing stasis back.

I'm not sure what makes the disrupter cost 300 gas when, in-game, it seemed like a worse version of a cheap as can be widow mine...

More than anything, outside of the herc, I find Blizzard's lack of creativity to be kinda pathetic. Maybe these guys are focusing on too many different games to truly make anything good. The best change is having the lurker back. While I don't mind them trying to replicate spells/units from BW, that's something anyone can do. When it comes to truly original ideas, all I can do is look at the units that show the least semblance to something they have copied and think "wow... maybe they shouldn't think for themselves anymore."

As long as the swarm host is in the game, in any form, I can't take this game seriously or anyone involved in it. I just think it's a joke, and I feel so ashamed to even be associated with the game in any manner. It's embarrassing.

I am watching Life vs. San from yesterday, and all I can think of is how much would Ravagers and Lurkers change in some of those fights and engagements, it is stunning! Numbers can be changed, but I hope that these units will have the same mechanic they have now.

Nah, Swarm Hosts are changed to harassment/mid game push unit, you won't see any more turtling with them with how they are changed.

shake up economy, cool. Roach unit to break forcefields, cool. Automated tournaments, fucking finally . New terran units look like cheap robot toys that I had as a kid.

You realise that forming arcs around lurkers in bw had to be done manually while in sc2 units do this almost entirely by themselves?
