With this he means Terran being imba vs Protoss? I believe he's talking about Swarm Host. Naniwa's always been very vocal about his distaste of the unit.
I Think he means the game in it's entirety. Should get the new d3 team to redo sc2, if they can make d3 look good then sc2 might have a chance.

He provides entertainment and competition, and there will still be strong foreign players without him. because that is was what i implied. nice. i get it if hes burnt out and doesnt want to play anymore. but only he knows what he wants so well just have to follow his lead.

SC2 community has a rampant lack of understanding of what money goes where in this scene. It might have a rampant lack of understanding where the money goes because no one in the scene wants to talk about this information, don't you think? This isn't even only regarding the money, it's basically impossible to know what goes on in the scene unless you are already in it, since very few people are open on how things work. I'm not even saying we need to know (I certainly don't need to know what Naniwa gets payed, for example, I don't really care), but I don't understand the whole "you're so stupid for being wrong I'm not even going to bother correcting you other than pointing and laughing, because you clearly don't understand"-thing. What good does that do? TB has a point when he says that people don't understand about where the money goes. I see a lot of people saying "Well no one tells us the monetary situations of esports teams so how are we supposed to know?" which is true but then people try to make points with assumptions on financial situations that they know nothing about, so I can kind of see TB's frustration with that. Sure, I can understand that as well, and of course there are some completely unrealistic assumptions. But when there is no information to go on at all (except some rumors about the top paid players), of course all people can do is speculate. This shouldn't come as a surprise.

Sad to hear.
What is it with foreigners reaching peak form then losing all motivation? So strange

The fact the industry is still in it's infancy (calm down BW folks) in terms on foreign teams, etc, it seems doubtful a standard has been set for the financials of an esports team. One team might pay 2x what the other team does, but no one wants to share information like that because teams don't want to get embarrassed by not having enough to match some other teams salary.
As you said, it's pure speculation, but it's fun to guess

I'm still not a fan of Naniwa, but I'd be happy if he switched to something else he enjoys. Maybe he can be the next star in Hearthstone

Peak form?

As a zerg I would like to see SH removed and much stronger, cheaper drop tech. Faster lair and hive research time.

NaNiwa? Hearthstone? :D It's like calling him to play in team with Loda and Forest and win TI5.

I don't really find protoss to be a fun race to play, can't say I blame him. Naniwa was always someone who searched for his own style and way to play, protoss is probably the worst race for that approach.

Wow. I never really liked him, but for his personalities. Even though i really have to admit that he was and is one of the most important persons we had in Starcraft 2. After losing Stephano we are losing another great foreigner. Sad.

gl hf Nani, you will be missed, both by your fans and those on the other side I think. Maybe getting a job as a nurse or a janitor will help you find the motivation to once again aim to be the best in the world at playing computer games in the future. The world could do with more nurses/janitors with an average APM of 200 though.

So, when I first heard this news, I was sad and worried, cause Naniwa, together with Idra and Huk, was one of the first people I followed after WoL was released, and it seems more and more of the people that got me into the game are leaving it.
But here people keep saying it's cause of the turtle fest of the Swarm host.
Really? I mean, may not be the truth, is just speculation. But. Really? If that is the case, it's simply silly of Naniwa.
Has he forgotten that Terran has had Siege Tanks that do the exact same thing, maybe even better for years?
Well despite this I wish him luck for the upcoming IEM and I hope he may return sometime soon.

I was actually going to mention that in my first post, but since that was pure speculation as well I decided to leave it out. But yes, looking at the scene from the outside you get the feeling that not even everyone in the scene knows what everyone else is doing. And as I said, this isn't only the money, there are a lot of things going on that you have no way to know about unless you're part of it. Which is why I feel it's kind of strange to criticize people for not knowing.
On topic: This sucks. Although maybe not such a surprise after seeing his games in WCS EU. It certainly didn't look like he was having a good day. But even though Naniwa is a polarizing figure, he's still one of the foreigners who can take multiple games of Koreans on a good day. Personally I hope he comes back.
|
WTF. The foreign hope on a "break"? Love him or hate him, he's a great player and I hope he comes back soon. The scene could use more smack talking foreigners
|
How will my passion recover from this? :'( I hope he'll return tho, but if not; best of luck!
|
This is very sad for the entire foreign scene... People may love him or people may hate him, this doesn't change the fact that he's one of the very few foreigners who actually have a shot at winning tournaments packed with Koreans. This is a fact.
I really hope he finds his motivation, and that Blizzard ACTS. It's not that Zerg in any way is overpowered in my opinion, but Swarm Hosts are simply a very stupid and boring unit, forcing hour-long games whether you like it or not. I really hope this gives Blizzard a wakeup call when one of the very few foreigners even take breaks from the game to avoid playing against swarm hosts.
_wake up_

If you look at Naniwas twitter its just full of SH complaints, I don't blame him but I find it sad that he would lose his motivation no matter the reason.
Naniwas drive and motivation was always his strongest charm, he wanted to win, he wanted to be the best and he put that ahead of everything. It seems how the SH functions and effects the game makes Naniwa lose his drive, my guess would be that the options he finds that makes it the most likely for him to win is not fun for him and he cant find any viable options. This is just guesswork though, hope he makes a comeback. Maybe win at Katowice
Anyway I'll always cheer for Nani, hoping for a blazing comeback, all he needs is the spark that ignites it all.
