1Round playoffs will be broadcasted this Sunday.
SK and Jinair will fight for the 1round semi final.
Both teams have revealed their players for the 1set. Interestingly, both players are zerg user (soO & Rouge).
The round playoffs will be in BO7 all-kill format. Thus, result of 1set would be important.
The round winner gets 40 extra points and USD ~$15,000 while the second best team gets awarder with 10 extra points and USD ~$5,000.
So much expect this playoffs and just guess who's going to be round winner.
#3. SK Telecom T1 vs #4. Jinair Greenwings1set soO < Frost LE > Rogue2set <Yeonsu LE > 3set < Outboxer > 4set < The King Sejong Station > 5set < Star Station TE > 6set < Bel'Shir Vestige LE > 7set < Frost LE >

Maybe they realized that they have no shot at winning the entire round anyway Might as well loose to SKT1 to be done with playoffs and focus on the next round.

given the depth and power of the T1 lineup its an embarrassment they aren't undefeated.

Maru & sOs are snipe-able, would not send them out first.

Maru has to be sent out last for Jin Air imo. You don't want to give SKT a chance to beat Maru by sending out a Protoss to snipe him.
That's also why I think Soulkey will be sent out if Soo loses. You want to save Parting and Rain for Maru.
|
Major said on the t8 tour that savage(rogue) was the best player in practice of the team. i guess he just managed to show it. plus zvz can be anyone's
|
i guess skt1 has the only maru slayer in proleague so its fair not to let him start i guess

Kicking things off with a ZvZ then. Hopefully it'll be one of the fast paced actionfests that it can potentially be

Also all of you fools who think Rogue is going to lose to soO are wrong.

40 points ? That's insane... I'm happy to see the $15000. It makes much more sens to tryhard for any playoffs.
I'll bet on a Maru Sniper ready for him. Rogue is good but i think Soo have the edge. Isn't Soo a ZvZ monster ?
EDIT : OH GOD it's Bo7 allkill ! didn't saw that. This is GOING to be AWESOME !

Sending Rogue out first makes the most sense; he's been Jin Air's second-best player behind Maru, and you don't want to send out Maru first so SKT can immediately prepare a sniper for the second map. I'll root for Jin Air but hopefully we'll just see a good match! SKT has more "star power" but Jin Air has a flexible team with lots of solid players of all races (TRUE, Cure, Terminator, Pigbaby) who can come out to snipe and if there's one thing that GSTL has taught us is those are the teams that tend to do better in all-kill formats over teams loaded with individual league superstars (who tend to rely heavily on preparation for specific players).
|
At this very moment Rogue beats the shit out of the IEM Qualifier...I think he's in shape...
|
I predict 4-3. Jin air will win 3maps and then Pantaji reverse allkill.
|
well sktt1 is screwed, rogue allkill incoming!

Well Rogue's ZvZ seems quite solid! His IEM run is quite impressive!

Well soO 3-0d Soulkey in the GSL and Rogue 3-1d Soulkey in the IEM qualifier just now so I guess soO is better? I think I got that logic right.

The playoffs at the end of 2014 (the finals of the entire season) are Bo3 (until finals) but the "round" finals like this one are Bo1.

Does Soo have better ZvZ than SG_Shine ? Not in WR but ... when i think about it i feel Shine is more dangerous.

Proleague points; used to determine seeding for the season playoffs (post-Round 4). Top 4 teams in terms of points will make the playoffs, while the four lower teams are eliminated. Placing top 4 in any one round gives a team the chance to gain a few extra points to boost their chances at making the season playoffs.

If you win both the regular round and the round playoffs, maybe. Just winning one round playoffs doesn't guarantee squat, though, since a win equals a regular round 6th place.

Unless I've made a huge mistake somewhere along the way, I'm not sure what you're trying to say. If I'm reading this correctly, winning the regular round gives 81 points, while placing 8th gives 30 points. There are four rounds, so a team can obtain a maximum of 324 points from regular rounds and an additional 160 by placing first in everything. With that in mind, I don't really see how winning the round playoffs (+40 points for a maximum of 121 points after R1) would guarantee a team a spot in the season playoffs.

No, those are not the points I'm talking about. Each team is awarded a number of points based on their rank after a round. KT received 81 points for winning the round while Prime received 30 for placing last. These are entirely separate and unrelated to the win/loss differential

Believing that one hot streak in one qualifier will necessarily translate into a series of wins in a format like Proleague's is foolish. There are a bunch of players far too close in skill for that to happen on a regular basis - Rogue is extremely good, no doubt, but he didn't (at least I don't think so) magically become better since the regular round ended, but many players have produced similar results in one qualifier or another before falling handlessly to someone they dismantled online once they play offline.
What I'm saying is, it'll take more than one qualifier to convince me that Rogue is all-kill material against a team of SKT's calibre.

It's part of it, though most of the players I predicted to be important parts in CJ's Proleague campaign all had some offline results to speak of and multiple sick qualifier runs. All-kill is a different beast, though.

Hell, if you would made a team of 10 best players in the world besides those on SKT (chosen by whatever criteria you wish), I still probably wouldn't favour them over SKT. That team is too stacked and that has to show in all-kill format. Although, obviously that format is volatile and they CAN lose, they are always coming into any match as favourites.

That's also why I think Soulkey will be sent out if Soo loses. You want to save Parting and Rain for Maru. But Maru is 5-1 vs Protoss and lost twice to Soulkey in their last matchup. I think you want to save Soulkey for Maru. Also all of you fools who think Rogue is going to lose to soO are wrong.
Darkhoarse is making the most sense. I get people are up in arms about TvP balance, but the fact is, Maru is wrecking protoss lately and is suffering versus Zerg. I too think soulkey is waiting for Maru, but I also think that is too obvious, and Maru might have something prepared. God I am excited for this!!
