The WCS America qualifiers concluded with the final Ladder Wildcard qualifier, open to players from every region. desRow and Jig qualified from Canada, while China's iAsonu (Invictus Gaming practice partner) and Korea's Bomber and check took advantage of the lack of region restrictions to advance as well.
The full roster of Challenger League player has been completed. Each of the players who make it through the qualifier will be matched up against one of Premier League/Challenger players from the previous season in a single best-of-five series. The winner will qualify for the new Premier League season. The brackets or method of seeding have yet to be announced by Blizzard or ESL. A detailed description of the new WCS system can be found here.
Congratulation to Desrow, Jig, Bomber, Check and iAsonu! I feel for Hendralisk and Xeno for their bad luck being in the same bracket as check and bomber tho! On the bright side qualifier for season 2 is in 10 weeks! (I'm trying hard to see the silver lining!)

I agree with this. There should be seeding in the qualifiers so that the good players dont get matched up against each other right away. I mean, the players that lost to the Koreans (Xenocider, Hendralisk for example) would have a much greater chance of making it through if they had to play against them in the later stages.
Kind of like how tennis operates, WCS needs to adopt the ATP format.
Looking at this player pool for challenger league I wouldn't be surprised if every single Korean advances out lol, even with some mild region restrictions the quality of Korean players around the world is still so damn high.

This is exactly what the partial region lock and new Challenger format is meant to achieve: give "nonames" a change to "make a name" by winning a Bo5 against an established player. Last year we had the rise of the Chinese players with Jim and MacSed making a name for themselves in particular, but also other upsets like MajOr beating TaeJa. It's hard to argue with the fact that most NA-based players (except for Scarlett and not counting Polt) didn't do too well last season but there's always room for growth in 2014 now that Koreans won't be dominating all the qualifiers.
Just to be absolutely clear, I'm by no means an anti-Korean guy. I just think it'll be cool to see some of the new up-and-coming NA players.

someone will be promoted to premier since Hack moved to GSL. It should be Bomber or TaeJa (Bomber having the highest WCS points).

Going off this, even with that change there's still 49 O_o
If Bomber or TaeJa is promoted from Challenger to Premier, there will be 48 players in Challenger, and 8 players in Premier, which is as it should be I think.
(that list still includes Bomber/TaeJa, as NASL hasn't said anything about it yet) - if you go to premier, you will notice that there are only 7 players there.

NASL announces Taeja got the spot:
Hack, whom had competed in WCS America in 2013 and had earned a spot in Premier League for WCS America 2014 Season 1, has elected to switch regions and will be competing in Korea. As this left a vacancy in Premier League, TaeJa was promoted from Challenger to Premier League. This promotion was based off of points TaeJa earned in WCS America in 2013.

Derp. IMO Global points > WCS America points, somebody who prefers Taeja at NASL :-PP?!
It is global points I think. If you look at WCS AM points, Revival got 100 more than Taeja last year in WCS AM alone. But if the announcement means to say "Taeja was the WCS AM player from 2013 with the most points" then it works out, as Bomber was not in WCS AM last year.
