I think tournament organizers should start considering upping their prizes for SC2 events otherwise this trend will continue in my POV.

I don't see what's troubling about the Riot origins. It was created by two hard core gamers which means: by people who love video games but are not developers themselves. What's troubling here? That's excellent! So many people who love games don't do anything around creating them because they don't know anything about development. The only troubling (slightly) part about the article abou Riot is that majority of the company is owned by Chinese corporation and I'm have second thoughts about any company from non-Free country.

As for F2P model - I don't see how that article relates to LoL.

The only thing that seems fishy around LoL is the weird that was stuff going on with Dota community back when LoL was starting to exist.


Well I get paranoid any time the private equity / business consultant types come in. They have this tendency to cause creative destruction, which has positive and negative aspects to it. I'm probably just being old and conservative.

I don't think that LoL will kill sc2 ,because it's a moba game and not an RTS... i think sc2 will be fine until late Legacy of the void.

Indeed. I'd also like someone to try and explain how Bioshock Infinite was not art (just one recent example that stands out for me). Even if you didn't like the game for whatever reason, you have to give credit where it's due.

On topic, MKP, being one of the most famous and well known sc2 stars, switching to LoL is completely shocking to me.

hmmm arguable. I can't see bioshock infinite as art.
I can see beyond two souls as art though. it is more of an interactive media and some parts were screened at 2013 Tribeca Film Festival which is a pretty big deal. Only LA noire had that level of acceptance in bigger media

the "creator guy" who eventually started Activision was told by the CEO of Atari that he was no more important than the assembly line workers soldering together the cartridges. so the "creator guy" just found himself a smarter "money man" and started Activision.
