I think sc2 graphics are just amazing, but gameplay is way too simple... If they kept bw macro gameplay, without all the automatic stuff, the game would be much more exciting imo...

Wonder why korea isn't obsessed with sc2? Big reason is probably that they have been exposed to the rpicness and depthness of bw. Aaaand foreigners weren't really exposed to bw as well hence why tey were able to enjoy
Sc2. Its like you tried in n out and then having to taste mcdonalds lol. Please dont give me bs with that koreans are cheap. How do you explain d3 sales? How do you explain koreans not rven playing sc2 in pc bang.... Omg sc2 please get back to bw mechanics and that krystal clear graphics of bw. Im sure casuals dont play this only rts players do.. We want a game that is fun and rewarding. Casuals wont play no matter what. Respect us rts fans... I felt so much better beating a b- zerg than beating a gm in sc2 by snm should tell you that

@saddaromma
Well Tastosis did cast WC3 in 2009. Possibly as a bit of a joke, but still.

This makes no sense.

The biggest game in Korea, by a wide, gigantic margin currently is League of Legends, a game that kids can play casually with their friends at PC Bangs and at home.

casuals wont play sc2 because its too hard. Rts players would most likely not leave for LoL and stick with sc2 if its as enjoyable as bw

Agreed. It's regrettable that recently these threads have degenerated into game bashing/defending. I think the mods should do something about that, unless, of course, they've just given up. But endless SC2 vs BW achieves nothing of worth.

Good luck, Bisu. I'm sorry you are not willing to transition to SC2 but thanks for the great BW memories.

All the best.

You really think bisu suddenly realized he needs to move on? All I heard from korean Pro's they are dissapointed with the game, not the scene. They obviously had fun playing bw, but now they don't. You can't disrelate it from SC2.

And public always speaks the truth btw.

No, my point is that it is not relevant. Nor, if you really get down to it, does it necessarily indicate anything.

Does Bisu not liking SC2 mean that it is a bad game? No, it does not. It indicates that Bisu does not like SC2. That is all. The problem is when people take this as some kind of confirmation to prattle (and boy is there so much prattle) on about how awful they think SC2 is and how it would all be better if Blizzard did X, Y, Z or a combination of all three.

As far as I know, Blizzard is not going to do X, Y, or Z. Nor is there any real indication that these will "fix" the game. Hence. this kind of circular dribble (which is what it is) masking itself as a useful discussion achieves little. It does not belong in a retirement thread. It simply gets people on their favourite soapboxes (yet again) and derails the thread.

Also, what Korean pros have you heard from? Personally? On threads? Where? Sources? Are these pros unsuccessful at SC2? Have Rain and Innovation complained? Maybe its because they are successful at the game and doing well? People need to be more critical rather than take comment from players at face value. In any case, an argument that because player X says that SC2 is bad means that you are right in your dislike of SC2 is nothing other than a version of the Argument from Authority. I have no idea what you mean by public always speaks the truth. Nor am I really interested, either.

Here, I didn't even put much effort to find these, and I'm terribly lazy person:

They don't say the game is bad, and neither do I. But I said "All I heard from korean Pro's they are dissapointed with the game, not the scene."

I said "public speaks the truth" on your attempt to backseat moderate and wanting to take actions against people who say sc2 is bad. If it was one or two person I'd agree, but there are too much of them, hence the "crowd".

You say Blizzard won't do anything. Ofc they won't, if community remains silent and pretend satissfied. Major people like Incontrol, DJ Wheat, Day 9 need to speak up. And hit Blizzard with a large force to shaken them up. But they dont wanna, cause they like things "the way they are". Eventhough scene is stagnant and slowly losing its fandom to LoL/Dota2/WoT.

And rofl. Tastosis casting WoT, could you imagine that back when sc2 was announced.

Flash translation is a bit off. I read the original Chinese transcript, he was saying there is no crowd and so it wasn't as fun playing sc2 compared to the high point if bw popularity

I seriously hate to tell you this but I think sc2 still would have happened even if the whole esports thing didnt exist.

would be a good idea to revive a 10 years old, long since forgotten game aye? Esports is the whole point of sc2, it's extremely cheap storyline only confirms that.

lol, a cheap storyline means the game is gear to multiplayer (which most games are these days). Multi player focus does not equal E-sports.

Revive a 10 years old, long forgotten game? I guess Diablo 3 was made with Esports in mind as well?

I guess Diablo 3 was great success? I hope they fail even harder with the expansion and leave the franchise alone.
upd: about multiplayer, I don't even need to say anything myself, nuff said. Google battlenet 0.2 and introduce yourself to all kinds of dumb actions blizzard have made on that front.

I ignored Cloud as he is not a Korean pro. Heck, he was barely a European pro and was a serial whiner. As to MC and Flash - did you even bother to read what you linked me? MC opens his post with "In my opinion, I think Starcraft II is a really well-made game" and then talks about a problem (amongst other things) in a specific match-up - which may or may not be relevant anymore after Innovation vs DRG. Flash talks about the SC2 scene not being as exciting, and like MC talking about problems in a specific match up, talks about TvP (amongst other things). Where do you come up with this nonsense of "SC2 is bad"? Moreover, even if they are disappointed, there is no indication that the reasons they are disappointed are the same for why you (or "the crowd") are disappointed. Who is right? You? Flash? MC? "The crowd"?

If returning a thread to something decent and worth reading is backseat moderating then hell, yes, I was. I usually avoid most threads in SC2 General because they are pretty shitty - especially when it comes to design/balance issues. Are you telling me I should expect the same in a retirement thread for a great from now on? Good to know. Thanks.

As to the rest, please don't assume that you or "the crowd" are synonymous with the community. Get over yourself.

I'm not going to address the rest of your repetitive peurile drip. It's a waste of time and another derailment of this thread.

see sc2 fans are overlooking the fact and trying to hide the reality.

I've seen afreeca and i have never seen bw progamers play sc2 AT least once. If you guys don't know who shinee is.. well he played sc2 for a while and reached masters. Everyone thought he quit bw and he came back saying ehhh idc about that game ill stick to bw. Sea is also the one who bravely sad "sc2 bad" look guys.. these progamers don't want a butthurt fanbase. They do not like the game. Why the hell would they like the game rofl?

you could as well ignore flash as "he's won nothing yet and is just butthurted he's not the same superstar as in bw", and ignore mc as "his glory has passed, he's just frustrated with that and blames the game". Meanwhile cloud was an extremely relevant pro no too long ago. But keep staying positive.

I'm not going to address the rest of your peurile drip. It's a waste of time and yet another derailment of this thread.

So, saying "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"
is better than expressing our feelings and reasons why its happening?

Again, none of Pros will ever say "SC2 is bad" since its not right towards their friends, team and community. But you need to read between the lines.
For example: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=427274, it says Jangbi lost interest, it means he doesn't find it fun. Hence he must be dissapointed with the game, or otherwise, great talent that he is why would he leave the game?
Or this one: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=397825. Darkforce boldly states that the game isn't fun for him.

Fact is, not fun game is a bad game. Its subjective ofc, but you can see the trend.

see sc2 fans are overlooking the fact and trying to hide the reality.

If you're so into brood war, maybe you can respect one of the all time greats by not derailing the thread about his retirement any more. There are plenty of places to discuss SC2 vs BW until you're blue in the face but this is not one of them.

Sad to see Bisu gone (and Best and Jangbi)... soon everyone I knew when I started following BW will be gone =(

Wow... Bisu was the one who brought me into the whole E-Sports scene. I will never forget watching that series where Bisu 3-0'd Savior and literally changed ZvP overnight.

This makes me really sad...

Hopefully Bisu will find a career in the tv/movie industry once he's done his service,

It's been abit more than 24 hours and the tears are still going strong. You will be missed Bisu ;( Even the idea that you MIGHT be playing was something that brought me to watch Starcraft over and over again

I think a lot of people are artificially keeping this game alive by pretending its an amazing game and defending it like their life depends on it. I would also blame a lot of casters for doing this which i wont name.

Its what actually keeps the game and its devs from doing significant changes to the game that no doubt needed to be done as early as WoL beta. There is a lot of denial involved here.
sorry for dem one liners

why sc2 was possible in the first place.

Commerically, yes, diablo 3 was a great success. But what I was trying to say is that Diablo 3 was made even though Diablo 2 didn't have a pro-scene *gasp*. So your claim that SC2 was only made possible by the likes of Bisu, JD, Flash... ROFL... delusional...

Again, I am not disrespecting Bisu for what he did to bring the BW pro scene to its heights... But eSports is only a small part of the equation for titles like Starcraft. Bowling is one of the most popular recreational sports in the US. Do you think it is due to the HUGE pro bowling scene?
