Right now it's 17:19 KST and the number I looked at previously is a bit over 8k which is pretty damn good for a game as old as BW but still nowhere near 24k. The SC2 number I compared was definitely not for Korea only though and doesn't matter too much. Will SC2 keep these numbers 15 years after its release and after SC3 have been released? I very much doubt it.

No, but I don't know whether or not BW will keep them for the next 15 either (doubt it) and past performance is not so relevant. The way esports (sadly) has so far worked has been that these games have a limited lifecycle and get replaced with new ones after some years. I feel the pain because I love Quake and that's another fairly longevous game that is not doing all too well anymore. I wish we could really have a single game stand the test of time but all evidence seems to indicate that BW was waning in popularity even before the SC2 switch. It is the same thing that each and every other game played as an esport has eventually had to face.

Go ahead and watch the Clip from the KR TV-show where yellow, NalRa and Nada are there to talk about their lifes. You guys (especially BW-fanboys) are so fuckin dellusional I bet you even believe the shit you say. Bisu may have some fangirls left, but from the glory of the past days there is most likly less than 10% left. So stop saying Bisu's retirement would have a big impact in KR-SC2 scene. Hf&Gl Bisu, never loved you like others did but wish you bests at life. Oh and for all you doomssayers: did you forget who else retired? Nada and Yellow. Why isn't the world over allready?

Most of his fans left with BW, it is true.

And it pretty much sounds like this is the last year of pro starcraft in Korea. Koreans don't like Sc2. Koreans don't give a flying fuck about it. Fish server has 24k users -_-;....... BLizzard and all the fanboys singlehandely destroyed the purest incarnation of pro gaming because they couldn't understand BW. It was too hardcore for them i guess. silly foreigners =( wrong. a solid percentage of the korean viewing audience for Brood War had only a surface level understanding of the game. the shows were as much MTV as they were ESPN.

Ummm how come people claim Bisu still has fans? I am he. I am the fan you claim does not exist and I have not gone away. The thread as a whole could probably back off the SC2 doomsaying and bashing. On the otherhand, people could also back off on the outrage that people are saddened at an 'irrelevant player.' No Bisu fan has made the claim that he revolutionized SC2 Protoss. No fear, it's not going to happen, so don't get into a dither. But that's not why people are sad either and claiming Bisu as irrelevant and being outraged that people would care is quite clearly missing what TaekBangLeeSsang was to SC.

I think the good/bad experiment would be to show all the hype before the switch how almost everyone and their mother hoped for players like TBLS transfering their play into SC2. If we remember that despite the bad outcome of Elephant article there was also a big hype created, even on the day of switch in MLG, Tastosis described the players with their trademark BW assets, we could see the glow in their eyes when they describe their used to be heroes. BW fans, SC2 fans for a while were united, the invigorating stage performance (Fantasy: "I will dominate", Leta's back flip) helped to grow an image. BW/SC2 fans were united because both of them could see a positive, even though first mostly wanted to diminish the pain of losing BW by seeing their own heroes tear apart the scene, proving the Elephant article. Second saw the one-opportunity of seeing the biggest "new blood" influx into already stagnated Korean WoL scene. What blew that moment? We should answer it for ourselfs.

We hate on blizzard for their policy agains Korean RTS Esport scene. For intentionally killing Broodwar and forcing switch to a game nobody wants and as we see statistics nobody cares about now, its just not as entertaining - Fact confurmed by statements of people who work/worked on the scene and by the low vewer count in Korea. Do you know what was Broodwar in Korea when official? It was epic, more epic than everything you have seen in SC2. For us fans it was an sacred thing and seeing each one of the legens like Bisu play was super exciting every single time. There were many bw related tv shows that were super fun too. It was a different world in which strong emotions, excitement and fun were constant experience. Now all that has gone. We have no BW scene, zero interest by the vewers, players so important to us constantly retiring and rumors about this is the last Starcraft proleague. How can us fans be happy with this?

Bisu is the only reason I might consider playing protoss ![]() I said his name the other month randomly and my wife (Korean) said "Ohhhh! 김택용 잘 생겼지?..." "Bisu is handsome, isn't he?" Haha. One of those few times in your life you don't feel jealous when your wife says someone is handsome. Really sad to see Bisu retire. ![]()

Here is a better question: You have your own forums on this website, with a thread about this topic. If you hate SC2 so much, why not go there? Why post here, where there are SC2 fans who like the game? Are you just posting here out of spite because you want to make SC2 fans angry?
