Bunny, whose best result up to to now is third in WCS Denmark, came out of nowhere to grab a WCS Premier League spot. Beating notable Protoss opponents such as WhiteRa, Welmu and even the Korean MVP player finale and showing off an innovative hellbat-drop-heavy mech TvP style in the process, he is certainly one to watch in the coming months.
The other player to qualify was feast, who was unable to play in WCS in 2012 due to school. He defeated foes such as Naama, Targa and South African Protoss PandaTank in the process of qualifying. While feast has always been at the fringes of making a breakthrough, WCS EU could be the opportunity he needs to really show off his true potential.
A really good qualifier, Feast earning his win after coming so close yesterday and Bunny been the great underdog story so far. How long do you think before people start saying it's only because of lag/timezone fatigue/three BO1 rounds?
I do feel quite bad for PandaTank, would of been great to have two complete underdogs qualify on the same day.

I don't think people will attribute that to these qualifiers, except maybe lag for the koreans. But even then, I don't think people feel bad for them, since they decided to compete here probably expecting easy points/spots/money/etc.

I'm starting to get excited at the realisation of EU (and NA) having a GSL equivalent. Not the actual skill level of course, but a long-running league with a Premier (code S) and Challenger (code A) divisions.

I'm ready to get my ticket for the bunny hype train. Going mech vP in his game vs. a very good korean in the game that determined his spot was really badass. I prefer bio but i respect M(ech)vPers. Bunny to win WCS Europe!!!!!!!
No Korean so far. Also, not alot of them even try to enter. Looks way better than I expected it to at this point. Also, congratulation Bunny and Feast! GJ!

and within 2 seasons 75%+ of the players in both will be korean.

Even if every single korean who signed up for EU qualified, it would still be what, 8 of them? The lag combined with travel fees are something that just makes it a bad option for most koreans. Once they play in a region, they are locked there for the remainder of the year anyway.
So unless 2014 sees a mass exodus of koreans to the EU server for some unexplainable reason, I think the EU leagues will provide plenty of opportunities for EU players to make their mark.

most KR teams don't have money for a migration (unless if they have a partnership), and KeSPA is going to stay rooted in korea.

Generally I agree with you, but we should not forget that there are also Koreans invited. At this rate it looks like there will be more invited Koreans than qualified ones.

His net must be so bad to EU, I don't like his chances, probably could in a LAN environment, but net out of China has never been particularly good
My take is that Europe has always been kind of this isolated place which is why IMHO Europeans are better than NA players they don't get invaded as hardcore as NA does by Korean players. I have this feeling like NA will be really beaten up by Korean that this EU WCS is the calm before the storm.
The only complaint I can muster is its been kinda boring seeing the same low level players over and over, but besides all that its really cool that relative unknowns can get 20k worldwide viewers and we can all get together to congratulate Bunny, Feast on their victories and they get their day in the sun.

Patrick later won the Danish qualifier for IeSF 2012 World Championship where he went to compete in Korea representing Denmark. GGWP Bunny !! Had like 5 hours sleep and i'm going to work in some minutes, but was worth staying up !! WP MATE !! Show this Kid some love boys cuz this kid shows promise !!
And gratz to feast aswell ! Mill just be so happy ! =)
I would love to see all the spots taken up by Europeans.I bet after allowing koreans to play in EU qualifiers, winning the qualifier must be so much sweeter for the European players!
I don't think anyone quite realizes how much of an achievement this is for a South African. Not saying Pandatank hasn't done well in the past, but afaik, this is one of his best showings. The ping in South Africa is between 190-240 to the EU server, and he made GM while here, and was good enuf to get a sponsor while down here. He's now coming top 4 in a WCS qualifier, probably one of the more stacked events out there.
Just want to say congratz to Pandatank and well done on an excellent result. I hope you can qualify in some of the others
Yes, I'd like Pandatank to qualify. Would be nice to see a South African in the WCS EU and he has proven he has the ability to get there, but will need some luck in the next two qualifiers.
From last night, the two qualifiers once again are fully deserved. Feast has always shown flashes of potential and appears to be doing well lately, and Bunny is showing some real talent, good to see new players come through + Show Spoiler +
It's awesome that Bunny finally comes out of the clos- errrrrr makes a breakthrough in the international scene. It must be pretty awkward for Copenhagen Wolves, that one of their 'Academy' players made it to Premier, and the full professionals of much bigger organisations didn't even come close lol.
Well done to Feast, he completely deserved it.
Hoping for Beastqt and Welmu next!
PS: Correct me if I'm wrong, but afaik PandaTank wasn't playing from South Africa. He was living in the Razer house in California, but I think he had moved to the UK...I might be under the wrong impression though,
My take is that Europe has always been kind of this isolated place which is why IMHO Europeans are better than NA players they don't get invaded as hardcore as NA does by Korean players.
On the contrary Id say competing with koreans raise the global level.
well he killed 20 workers with his first tiny pokes at 6 then 8 minutes, which was with a very small force of 1 mine 6 marines... then 2 hellbats.. what the fuck was finale doing?! he even left his probes in the firing line against the first marines and let them get butchered. maybe he was really tired?
undeniably bunny did well with his harass early game but some questionable play by finale.
Congratuations to the qualifying players, but due to the sudden re-scheduling many players missed out the check-in and some of the pros were directly seeded into the qualifier without having to check in manually, which I find is a complete JOKE for an "open" qualifier... But there has been so much rage about it already and all of the missing-out players get to be seeded into the last qualifier. Just wanted to express my disapproval of the ESL...
When Bunny qualified to the WCS EU code S/premier league I actually think this WCS EU has already been a success. I think this is exactly what blizzard had in mind when they decide on this format and this idea.

Daisy is first and foremost regretting that he is in Korea now : as far as I know, he'll be back in Europe in one month and then until the end of the year.
Feel kinda bad for him because it's obvious that he has not chosen Europe to steal our beautiful* €, but because he is committed to live here.
* Ask Cyprus, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Ireland and Greece peoples how beautiful Euro is...

Amazing results! Feast is hell of underrated, I like his play a lot. And I'm very surprised about Bunny and his playstyle. So TvP mech IS viable and he shows how to play it.
I've been watching Feast's stream and it's really no suprise to me that he made it to 2 finals in a row and finally advanced. He's a really great player and I'm glad he did it, it was well deserved. Congrats to Bunny as well, I'll be lookking forward to watch his games.

Hyun played in alot of EU cups so did Polt, both had alot of succes, it's challanging no doubt but not impossible by far.

Grats to Bunny and Feast.
Yes, but both Polt and Hyun are better than than Finale / Tails by a significant margin, and their competition at the cups was a lot lower. There were several good players (e.g. Nerchio), but not in this amount. Also Polt was playing in a much more favourable time, compared to the people playing from Korea.

So currently there's ForGG and MMA and Mvp in the EU premier. There's only 4 spots left and coincidently only 4 Koreans in the open bracket. Even if they fill all the remaining spots that'll make a total 7 Koreans, and with MC been the only Korean stating his intent to compete in EU in season two that'll make a maximum of 8, a good 50% off your figure. Sure NA isn't looking as peachy but meh.

You can probably download the replays from the bracket if you click on a matchup or look up voda at the twitch channels that streamed those games. Like wcs eu or taketv

So you agree, it's difficult not impossible, all those points are valid, i would never state that it's not hard for a korean to advance compared to a EU player of equal skill. but in the end it's irrelivent to try and make excuses, they wanne try to qualify in EU, so bad time and bad ping better be taken into account instead of being used as an excuse for a loss.

Finale got close I guess but that last game he played awful. Combination of a crappy time to play for KR plus the lag plus the low amount of koreans actually trying it wouldn't suprise me anymore if only europeans qualify. That would make it at least 1 european into global finals I suppose?
Would be interesting to see a better game from bunny using that style. His initial harass had just demolished finale already, especially the first 6 rines. Speed medivacs can feel so silly at times, especially if you hop from natural to main practically going over the stalkers and still outrunning them so much you can do good damage in the main as well. Hellbat drops are quite ok still, not so sure if it's really that much better than traditional MM drop but it sure is annoying to face. Unfortunately after that opening bunny could have finished with mass scv literally, he was just that far ahead economically.
