You can already observe this behaviour in a nut shell when you take a look at the EG house. I mean they have a team house but instead of practising together, sharing builds and work like a team, they are just streaming for themselves over VERY VERY long periods of the day (well which is fine for itself because in that way they can make some money maybe to help to maintain the teamhouse) and it seems that they got a really poor atmosphere at the teamhouse. Stephano once said on his stream: "I whish I had friends on the US that I can practice with". I mean: HELLO you are in a TEAMhouse ? Shouldnt he practice with his TEAMmates? I Like the Idea of EG having a house where players live together but they are not using this infrastructure they have set up. Its nothing near effective like the Korean team houses.
This got nothing to do with money but everything to do with the growth of the NA scene. The NA is dead if this is going to happen.
And I don't think you or I is in a position to talk about EG and there social well-being as a team.
So the NA scene got to make a choice they can either go with it and try to compete but will fail and eventually die out since no sponsors or teams will be interested in NA players. Or they can fight this and simply boycot it to force blizzard to make changes so it require residency to play in the NA WCS

My issue with this is that I thought WCS would be about encouraging the growth of the future scene. I thought that after a year or two of a region-locked, high-quality WCS, we could have had a much larger viewer base, better/more established team houses in NA/EU, a higher level of competition in NA/EU, more opportunity for players to devote themselves to the game, and eventually a World Championship that wasn't completely dominated by Koreans. Instead it seems to be about pumping more money into the scene for more of the same Korean domination. We have GSL Code S to see who's the best Korean, and by extension, the best player in the world right now. I don't care about a bigger, more complicated GSL Code S. If anything, hard region locks would stagnate the scene even more. Why would you practice your ass off when there is a tournament with a lot of cash where you got absolutely no fear to play again a Korean? There is logic in Blizzard's system but it needs some finetuning.

Best for the NA professionals to quit while they're still reasonable young and uninvested in sc2, what can they even play in anymore? MLG is all koreans, WCS looks like they're going to be 100% koreans by season 2, haven't seen a NASL in a long time but they used to be all korean top aswell? The sad part is, no changes are coming. NASL not unlikely to drop sc2, MLG earning big cash on koreans and I'll be surprised the day americans qualify for their own WCS.
Im not that into koreans so excuse my negativity.

- WCS Korea will still be stacked as hell because korea is still a centralized hub with training house with good practice enviroments. The GSL doesn't get a real hit out of it. Even if level would lower a bit (something that looking at the koreans who left doesn't seem likely), it would go back to top notch back in a season because of how many opportunities there are for talents to be honed.
- Koreans who are playing on different regions are doing it also for the "easy money", stop using that argument when it's just a safe career choice for up&coming players who have no chance/really little chance to win a GSL, but start doing babysteps. Sorry, as much as i love MvP i don't see him winning a GSL ever again. So when you are bashing on foreigners for bitching about ez money, how the fuck do you deffend koreans doing the same. Short answer, you shouldn't blame either of them.
- Most of those koreans aren't moving to the regions which they will be playing, thusfar there will not be an improvement on the practice the foreigners have, while koreans retain their korean training enviroment. So the whole "that will raise the level of play so that's how foreigners will get better" point is moot, specially when most people know practicing isn't equal to good practice.

I've said this somewhere but I'll repeat myself.
Have you ever read about placebo effect? There is also its counterpart: nocebo effect. Basically: you believe a completely harmless pill will cause harmful effect, thus you actually can feel physical, mental and emotional effects. There are no chemicals at work: these real effects are caused your belief and belief alone.
When you talk and think about koreans as some kind of SC2 master-race, then you have subconsciously already given up and you might as well surrender the match. You are not going to win, because you have already decided to lose.
Step #1: stop thinking about yourself as an inferior player Step #2: find a way to be better than them

wow really not sure what to make of this..

Because there will (hopefully) be a healthier scene in NA, leading to more competition for that money, leading to more competition in the world championships from actual NA players. There's already little room for stagnant players in NA. Scarlett will beat any of them. Suppy and Minigun will mop up the rest. If there's actual winnable money up for grabs, up-and-comers might be motivated to practice to beat Suppy, Minigun, and Scarlett than they would be to practice to maybe beat 20 Koreans.

Yeah, GSL will be a lot less fun for me now. Not because the games are worse, but because the personalities will be gone. Great job, whoever came up with this. =(

I'm pretty sure this doesn't affect proleague? What about GSTL?

Lol. Yeah, that's some grade A logic for someone without a brain. You know why you would practice hard? Because there's thousands of other people practicing hard for a shot at that money. So many people were just born and new to the world. In BW, everyone trained hard for WCG and there wasn't jack for money in that. People that are aiming for money in a SC tournament are always going to seek out the best practice partners, aka practicing with Koreans.
Blizzards logic revolves around making money, period. Stop acting like they're strategizing on how to help you out due to their good will. Ask them if they want to donate to your favorite charity. They will probably tell you to fuck off. Logic. Give me a break.

Well technically since all tournaments are the same now, competing in the EU one should weight the same as the GSL

That´s all fine but what you going to do if you are a new upcoming NA player who cant get sponsorships or teams because there is no point to sponsor a player who will never get any exposure?
You want them to live on the street with a laptop playing WCS NC and hope there opponents get disconnects?

Looks like I'll be playing European qualifier. April 14th is the first tournament, right? Where do I sign up.

Hopefully they let the korean vs korean matches be played on the kr server. Also, Mr. Bitter was totally right; if you want real regional competition you're going to have to do it by citizenship or some legal means.

Mvp outsmarted them all.

Interesting tidbit of no decision value: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GOMTV_Global_StarCraft_II_League
This puts us at 20 GSL events to be won. MC has won 2, MVP 4 (1 of them WCS), MMA 2 (1 of them Blizzcup). That's 8 of these titles moving to EU. Nestea has won 3 and Polt won 1 (Super Tournament) so that's 4 to the US.
More than half of all GSL titles (12/20, 9/16 without Blizzcups and WCS) are moving abroad now.
