Which is exactly why this tournament is a huge deal. The reason many foreign teams don't "dedicate as much time and energy" is because they have to come up with bullshit ways to make money to even stay afloat (look to your right and see all the fucking ladder streaming). If foreign teams can go to their sponsors and say "we have 2 players in the top 5 of NA in WCS" instead of "we had a guy place 21st in an MLG with a bunch of koreans in it", that pays for the team. It means they have the possibility of making more sponsor money, more from tournament winnings, and thus less time dicking around doing stupid shit to make extra cash and more time practicing.

Any word on possible refunds if you bought a year ticket? you paid for the vods also, but you should definitely contact gom about this. I'm pretty sure they thought this through, and maybe you get to watch the OSL/GSL combination for free at the highest quality as well as access to the vods. and dont expect their 720p to be crystal clear, i think i remember gom saying they were gona do 720p but it still looked kinda blurry.

In order for these koreans to "farm" money, they are going to need full support from their teams in terms of travel, housing, food, etc. in a foreign country. i'm pretty sure most korean teams dont have that kind of bankroll unless your a top end kespa team, but even then kespa teams are completely focused on SPL. I'm sure some koreans will move outside of korea, but you need to look at it in a different perspective. They're gona be living in foreign land, probably cant even speak the language and its probably gona be a big culture shock. Sound familiar? If they live outside of korea, i dont expect them to stay there long.

Didn't get the uber premium though, but not even that cost 100 e afaik. 100 usd maybe? However, I would be interested to hear about this as well.

Imagine Root, Quantic, or Western Wolves bringing over their star players to compete in their home league. I doubt KESPA or ESF teams will send players over, but I can easily see foreign teams doing it.

Its just placing well in those tournaments gives you a point advantage for a more "global" tournament at blizzcon. What im trying to say is, its more like a big bonus on top of your win. Win the gsl/osl and be the best in the world AND you get points for another tournament.

Basically there will be GSL and OSL that will award money, highest amount of prestige and WCS Korea points. At least thats how i will see it, no matter what blizzard says.

So that they can send them out to foreign tournaments? Those teams were gona send their koreans to foreign tournaments anyway, so its not really a big deal.

Unlikely, EG has invested too much money into PL/Korea to take away one of their decent players for an ample amount of time. I doubt teams like Quantic and Root can afford to send out and fly their Korean players to foreign events regularly. But investing in your only player that can compete on a high level to compete in a region that is not their home is very likely.

There are two things that I'm very interested to know as a follow up to the announcement: - Detailed explanation of the points accumulation system (Will the winner of Minigun vs Machine in some NA regional qualifier game be awarded the same amount of points of the winner of Life vs Flash in a KR regional qualifier game?) - Which/how many Korean players will play in the NA/EU regions?

Oh I gotta do this blizzard seasons finals against the other 4 guys I just beat anyways Winning a GSL meant just that: GSL champion. Only Mvp after his third championship, DRG in early 2012 after winning his first, and maybe Life after winning Blizzard Cup, were considered the absolute best in the world. FD, MC, Polt, Jjakji, Nestea, MMA, Mvp (4th version), RorO, etc. were never considered the best in the world after winning.
