Hence it's almost guaranteed that a number of quality Korean players will opt not to participate in a stacked GSL/OSL, but instead chase money and WCS points in a weaker field in Europe/America, i.e. diluting the strength of Code S. I don't mind watching MLG/Dreamhack level events occasionally, but I'd rather watch the best of the best. Code S is now WCS. This Code S that is starting tomorrow is now WCS. There is no choosing WCS over Code S as it is now the same thing.

They haven't announced their plans for a new season and season 4 ended 4 months ago. I doubt it. IPL used to also run in evening weekday time slots, and they both co-existed pretty well. For that matter, MLG has added more weekday evening content. And NASL has something those particular leagues never had - an array of sponsors that are not specific to the eSports arena. Stamps.com, Audible.com, LABite, etc. Their content last year was pretty quality, and while IPL beat them on the "rebroadcasts 24/7 usually with ~1000 viewers most of the time", I think they have a very solid team and put out a quality product. They also don't have to cast games live - they could follow the IPL route, which allows games to be played at any time and then cast the replays. (Not sure if they do this currently.) I believe NASL was waiting for HotS release to get Season 5 set up, and might have delayed again to wait for this announcement. They aren't in WCS as a partner, but they likely (like MLG, DH) may have points up for grabs. While watching LO3, and reading the tweets, I know that the point system itself isn't set in stone. I'm wondering if they will try to go with a NASCAR-like approach. If it were me, I'd just hire TheBB and say - MAKE IT WORK. Plz.

Koreans already had to pick a region. So if they are asking questions now, i'd think they picked KR for this year.

They made a fantastic game and thats why there are still people playing it competitively 15 years? after its initial release. Blizzard needs to fix their game and stop forcing it down our throats and trying to take a hold of the whole market. They basically withheld licenses from all of them and said our way or no way. And when its your business to broadcast starcraft you kind of have to go with it. And how alive was BW outside of Korea ? ... Exacly !

I'm sorry, but I'm getting really fucking tired of this bullshit. Everyone in ESPORTS talks about how there needs to be a support system for American players, that there has to be a reason for them to play and practice as much as Koreans/Europeans, which we were supposed to get with MLG, then NASL, then IPL. Now we were supposed to get it with Blizzard WCS, and BOOM. Managed to fuck over the Americans once again. I seriously, just really, seriously don't understand. Pro-gamers and tournament/team owners always ask "Huh, why are foreigners so shitty?" and then answer their own question with "Oh, well, for places like the USA, they don't have a tournament like GSL that regularly holds tournaments for them. MLG used to do that, but sold out about as quickly as NASL and IPL did, despite all of their promises. Maybe we should make a tourney for them? Tons of Americans would watch it for sure, so it's not like viewership isn't there." Then rumors get spread and those very same talking heads get us all excited, but no. Everyone gets fucked again. 3 years from now, when the American SC2 scene is dead and gone, and people ask why, don't even act like you don't know. It's because going on 4 tournaments have now shafted us, and there are just going to be more in the future. It's like they hear what everyone is screaming for, agree with it, then just...don't do it?

And if Koreans do wind up moving regions... well, it's more expensive (due to travel, which I believe is on the player if they live outside of the region). If they move regions and move physically to the NA region, then I can't see a problem. Having a Korean training facility in the US could attract foreigners that are good but can't afford to go to Korea into seeking out training in that kind of environment, with the Korean management style. And (if they're smart), the Koreans in NA would train them. It could be a good thing. I still don't think it's going to be the end of the world. It's change, not an apocalypse. Okay, on second thought, there could be one teensy tiny problem... is South Korea a Visa Waiver Program country, and does traveling to win money from foreigners count under that, or do they need a work permit? I've always wondered about how Immigrations and Customs of various nations deal with eSports. I mean, traveling into the country with a mouse, a keyboard, and the ability to stomp foreign nerds doesn't immediately make border guards say "You must be here to work."

Everybody can already forecast the situation. NA WCS will be heavily dominated by the Code A/B Koreans. It is basically free ticket for Koreans. KR WCS will be so stacked with Kespa/ESF players. Sundance saying there is some " big names " means there could be a few Code S Koreans.

Call them Region 1,2,3. Might as well. The 5 from each region thing, while obviously there to promote diversity in the people playing in the championships, is going to be laughably Korean stacked. All of the Korean teams will just take their B-teamers and throw them over to America/Europe. Or, better yet, put their A-teamers in America/Europe and let their B-teamers fight it out in Korea. Chill out dude. There are consequences for Koreans to play in NA/EU. The only Koreans that will play in NA/EU are probably those that are on foreign teams already. Entire Korean population is not going to suddenly move to NA/EU. Drama queen.
