I can understand them. It really feel like " Hey.. okay.. it's the same thing that Riot is doing. Great." Nothing more.
Yet i'd say.

We get weekly NA/EU/KR competition each season now ala NASL. On top of that, we still get the MLG, Dreamhack events etc. How is it overhype? What did Hexo411 get from this? did they send him free stuff? does he get a backrub? no. no he doesnt.

Q: What happens to OSL qualifiers/dual tournament system?
Mr. Chae: Code A/DualTournament/etc have been combined into the "challenger league." It format is the same as Code A/Up-Downs.
Mr. Chae: The qualifiers into the challenger league will be the same format as old Code B.

All the idiots in this thread who doesn't understand how big this is for SC2 as an Esports. :/ And it's great news if you ask me. Allot of what I've heard so far is exactly what the scene needed. Hopefully all the "Blizzard has abandoned SC2" will finally stop.

Fucking clearing it up for the rest of us. 1.6 million dollars of clearing it up into next year for another four seasons.

As well he should, because even if the format (which appears at face value to be pretty solid) becomes convoluted or has a rough start as a new tournament, Blizzard is actually investing in our e-sport and working with the leagues and organizations. They're taking StarCraft 2 seriously.

ForGG and Polt are pretty well placed !

A pretty popular sport in Europe. A lot of countries have thriving national leagues, but many get smashed in champions league. Seems like it could work very well. The stars themselves are not region restricted. You don't have to watch only English players if you live in England.

So it seems like MLG is going to run both WCS and a regular tournament side by side like they did with WCS? The same thing that happened in 2012 will happen again. No one will really care about shit tier NA tournament while top koreans are playing in the same weekend. I hope they are split up.
|
This is directly from Slasher's GameSpot article:
Each regional league season will run for 8-10 weeks, with all games played on weekdays in a consistent schedule. This will allow players to travel internationally to non-WCS events on weekends. Non-WCS events cannot run events on the same weekend as WCS events. Non-WCS events will be given as of yet undetermined amount of points.
