Also I have always felt there was an image of him being frank just for shock value but after seeing this its pretty obvious that he really loves E sports and says what he says because he thinks its best for E sports.

JP - if you read this thread at all, I really recommend you check out Inside the Actors Studio (specifically the one with Dave Chappelle, after he comes back from Africa). I'm assuming you've heard of the show, but I really do see a lot of that show in Real Talk, and tiny moments of brilliance here and there for you as an interviewer. Like 2GD said, you're quite connected in the industry, and you provide an insider yet convivial atmosphere that no one else really can. I think Lipton (from IAS) is a brilliant interviewer, and little things like the way he introduces a question with background info on the interviewee, which you do as well, go a long way. Keep up the great work, and keep giving a LOT of thought into who you choose to interview.

I think the best part was the timing, and whether or not JP consciously thought about it, the interview comes at a time when 2GD's community interest is really swelling. Both from his comments on Day9 and his studio really starting to hit its stride, there couldn't have been a better time to have on a really well-spoken giant of the industry, much more prominent than most know to be. "Real Talk is a new show that revolves around chatting with prominent eSports figures and trying to learn more about them other than what we know already -- think Inside the Actors Studio but with less old people. It seems like I've been wrong. Seeing how this video was 3hrs long, I wasn't even going to watch it, but I saw some posts indicating some talk about Day9, I really wanted to know what that was all about, I started from the begining and was hoping that the subject would show up sooner rather than later so I could just skip the other parts if I didn't like them. But something happened. The former obnoxious person seemed pretty down to earth, talking about his childhood, and even if the other parts of his personality kept bleeding through, I suddenly didn't find them that repulsive anymore. I kept on watching and actually found myself quite impressed by what he had to say. This guy seem to know a lot about esports and games in general, has a lot of experience and connections, and also seems pretty damn passionated about esports. The fact that he has done a lot of work for free, also giving money back to the community while currently living off of a smaller salary than the rest of the guys in the 2gd studio to further his goals are simply put awesome. I fell like, after watching this interview, that if I'll ever find a job in esports, it would be becuase of this guy. Hey, I think I'll call him and ask him. Cheers for an awesome interview and thank you for changing my perspective on James. Now his less appealing sides suddenly makes more sense and will be much easier to ignore or even embrace from time to time.

From what I've seen, he has always seemed jaded, and even critical of esport. That is what I've learned from only watching him in small windows in time, and almost exclusively in his work connected to SC2, which while he seems to think is a good game regarding esports, doesn't seem to impressed by or interested in himself. My only encounter with the guy did also not change my oppinion of him since he seemed very patronizing while talking to me (I realize now that that might not have been true, could've been a product of my prejudice towards him).
