I like some of these changes and dislike some. Keeping the overseer is good. Keeping the Oracle is good. No shredder is awesome. Different types of Nydus Worms? Awesome. Swarm host is still cool as far as giving zerg some seige power. Anti-air spider mines sounds kind of lame. Long range anti-ground turret? I don't like it. Maybe keeping thor? Meeeeh, undecided. Mass recall on nexus will make protoss harass more viable. I like it. God blizzard is really stuck on this tempest idea aren't they...? Fuck the Tempest. Give me a carrier!

Needs way to break tank lines -> adds long range missile bombardment
Problem nuclear launch?

Decides air to air splash capital ship isn't necessary for Protoss -> adds siege range capital ship
Problem carrier?

It is ok though, the warhound is in contention for being too much like a mini thor. I just feel trolled by Blizzard sometimes.
What does it matter how I loose it?

Awesome! I felt the shredder and replicant wouldn't fit into the game and I was not happy zbout the new detection mechanic. Things are looking good.

Edit: HOw did I miss the new nydus worms? They seem pretty cool. I want to see what comes of them.

I feel like these steps are going in a good direction. Maybe not perfect yet but obviously they won't be until the community gets their hands on the beta. I think keeping the Overseer was a suprisingly wise decision.

Also the 'air spider mine' shouldn't be made with defending mineral lines in mine, but more like how it can stop/delay lategame Brood Lord pushes.

Perhaps BW maniacs was the wrong term. I myself didn't even play BW, I was purely a spectator. Perhaps I shouldn't have drawn attention to the BW fans at all. My point doesn't change. We force ourselves as starcraft/rts/esports fans to swallow the pill of SC2 but if we remove ourselves from the force feeding and see SC2 as an independant game it's not very good. This is excluding all of the bnet 2.0 failures. Starcraft 2 was hugely successful on hype and hype alone. It was the sequel to one of the most successful PC games in history. It had one of the few gaming communities that has withstood the test of time and championed esports to incredible levels behind it before it ever released. We as a community enamored with starcraft culture have convinced ourselves into accepting SC2 as a great RTS, the next torch for 'esports' rather blindly.

I challenge anyone to think this game would be anything other than a medicore RTS title had it not been for the fact it's starcraft's sequel. Perhaps that's an unfair challenge, that it's too hard to remove the culture behind starcraft and the hype built up for the release but I think time will tell.


edit; to be clear (and fair) I think SC2 is better than a lot of PC games available, it's just not as good as it should be and the fact that the gameplay (and bnet 2.0) is largely unchanged after 2 years just reiterates my point.


I think your point is still wrong. I got bored with BW around 2003 or so and it wasn't until SC2 was out for 6 months or so that I bought it. I had no idea of the hype leading up to the game. Outside of Korea the BW community was not that large how do you account for the influx of people once SC2 came out? Many people never played BW and had no idea of the competitive scene yet are now huge SC2 fans so I just don't see how you can dismiss the success this game has had for 2 years with hype.

Idk what the collossus QQ is about quit QQing if your bad. Its a good unit and I personally loved the idea from beta to now. It's one of the new units I thought was really great. I do think Protoss could benefit from a Dark Archon though

And we should all keep in mind these are just ideas most games don't tell you shit about the game till after release or beta these are just ideas they are bouncing around.

Colossus is not a good unit.Its the worst unit in sc2 right now bar none.

I agree with this as well. I have no long legacy with the franchise of starcraft but after having played sc2 for almost 2 years now and followed bw scene immediate after i found it, also 2 years now, i am feeling the same way. The respected 'Starcraft' label made me buy it.

I'm concerned that the Viper's "blind" spell is pointless.

It would have been very helpful to break entrenched positions and to help Z engage Protoss armies. Now that it only works on bio units I don't see the point - wouldn't you rather have infestors against bio?

So they have no idea what they are doing with Terran, adding a flying Colossus and adding another caster for Zerg.

The Nexus recall thing needs to go though, it's the anti-retard magnet. Bad play has to be punished.

I'm dissapointed i have to say. It's like they are doing everything possible to avoid adding the stuff from BW, even though they realize that would be the best way to go about it lol.

Why? Seems to do what its intended and very well and can be very fragile by itself.
