How intense are the words... i mean 7 years for being bad mannered... that's a bit much.

The amusing part of this is the fact he can get years in jail/tens of thousands of dollars fined. Talk about excessive. I don't particularly have anything against holding idiots on the internet accountable, but it has to be reasonable.

are you fucking stupid?
Just cause it's a public chat doesn't mean someone has the right to berate someone else. How would you like it if you had a open party and I go in and call you a cunt. Just cause you're on the internet doesn't mean you can say whatever you want. The person won't get anything close to the penalty that's listed but this type of action in South Korea can be punished.

Trying to get someone locked up in a cage because of some words they made appear on a screen seems incredibly cruel and wrong.

Isn't this really just an issue of poor moderation? Manners should be enforced at a much lower level and scale than civil court... like say by chat mods and temp bans instead of judges and prison time.

It's not gonna be anywhere close to that.

he wont get 7 years, thats a maximum sentence, in extreme cases. for example, if you bully someone to suicide.
also, is it wrong to expect people to act with some sort of decency and manners? is it that hard to act with class?

I don't understand. She didn't think a ban was enough punishment?

Actually doesn't change my position re 'don't act like a dick on the internet', apologies for ranting at you though, got that wrong.

power to you jessica, some people get away with far too much when they think they are hidden behind anonymity
to the people saying adults should be able to handle the internet harassment with thick skin, you are misidentifiying the person who needs to grow up, the person who harasses with extreme language with no thought to their actions is the immature child. welcome to the real world where what you say to someone could potentially have consequences.

People get called cunts and everything else on the internet constantly. I agree they should be punished in some way. You call someone a cunt here, you get banned, cool. You don't need to lock people in prison or take huge amounts of money from them though, that's insane.

you'll have bouncers so you can kick them out. in this case, bouncer was not there so they came in and did their shit, so the cops had to come.

Blame the police and the law then, not Jessica, victims don't determine the punishment and for good reason. I highly don't any jail time will result, that would be reserved for extreme cases I imagine.

I'm not disagreeing but this is way too extreme.
