It's really quite simply. If you want to be a public figure and have your face on TV and the internet all the time, expect some haters. It's how the world works. It's part of the price you pay for being well-known. Either accept it and move on, or quit and go work in a shopping-mall or something :/

Jessica's drama? Last I checked she didn't start this, she only looks to end it. I don't think you understand how much females get attacked in the gaming community just because of their gender. Everything she does is reasonable given the Korean culture.

I can't believe how many people immediately go to the statement "woman is a drama queen get over it", "girls gonna be girls" , "Jessica is just emotional"argument. It's digusting.

Whether or not you agree with whether he should be sued or not, sexual harassment in NO WAY is acceptable. It's the same type of misconception as saying that girls who go to bars and wear short skirts get raped because they are asking for it. Sexual harassment happens because guys don't stand up against it.

Does he deserve to get sued. Of course he does. If you went around IRL and starting saying that to other people constantly you can be sued for stalking and harassment. The only reason its hard to do implement online is the logistical problems against it.

One day, if you ever have children of your own that are female/gay you'll understand what I'm talking about. Until then, women/gay people have to tolerate this community.

If you think that Destiny being stalked/harassed by Deezer/ CombatEx isn't ok and hurts the community then you absolutely shouldn't stand up for this type of Bullshit.

Perfectly said sir!

I support her, the troll has obviously been banned repeatedly, and each time, he would just come back. and it pissed me off too. i was there the whole time, and i was sick of that kid too.

people think harassing or w/e bs is okay; whereas, taking the appropriate measures to stop this bs is not?

what's up with people these days?

these kids need to learn their lesson the hard way, and grow up.

and I am sure the prison sentence will teach them how to be a normal human being.

You think so ? Him going to jail having a harder time to ever get a normal job again, meeting great people in jail hang out with the right crowd ye that's going to teach him a lesson. One's you go to jail you will be back.

A fine would be more then just, let him pay some of his cash. More then a good lesson. Instead of ruining his entire life over a small matter.

lol? that's his own fault? nobody asked him to harass others online, why did he do it? Action ---> Consequence.

How is a fine more than just? Does that simply empower people with money to stalk and harass? Wake up, this is not the preschool anymore.

The world is for real. There are laws which govern the society. And I don't feel sorry for the troll kid at all, he ruined his own life. That's on him. It's his own fault. It's his own responsibility.

There are many forms of crime and laws thank god and i simply do not agree this one deserves jail time, i fail to see why i would need to wake up.

yeh, maybe one day when someone you care dearly gets stalked, harassed REPEATEDLY, you might then understand.

I was there for 1.5hrs or so, the guy kept coming back after bans..etc. so yeh, I don't feel sorry for the guy at all. he deserves every bit of it. Does he deserve a second chance? nah, he had like 20 chances from those bans.

If something is illegal where you live, don't do it or face the consequence. it's simple, don't give others bs, others won't rain bs on you.

1.5hours is not enough for me to put some one in jail. Yet you seem to want to convince me that it is.

That person is being a tard you are correct and Jessica has the right to charge him/her that does not mean i should agree with her nor you.

Yet you keep captain capslocking it up, these are forums get used to the fact that not every one has the same view point.

i guess you should reread the entire thing.....

7 years is the maximum sentence, chances are, he won't get the max sentence. is that clear? or do I need to use capslock AGAIN?

min sentence = warning + fine, kk?

Jessica is obviously not trying to just send this kid to prison for 7 years. She's just trying to teach this kid a lesson.

How's this even remotely wrong?

It doesn't take much for a case of controversial nature to yield surprising results in order to "set an example". Perhaps he will get gaol time (or a serious fine/suspension) just to scare others. It's happened before.

LOL at "controversial". To us SC fans maybe. Doubt the courts would see anything special in this case, it would probably be handled by some district / magistrate court and be done with.

And IF it DID happen, it would be the judge who's at fault, not Jessica. She has no control on what sentence he gets.

As above, its a criminal charge, not a civil suit, has nothing to do with american defamation law or anything like that, and its a routine case in sk. the range of penalties available just reflects the wide variety of acts that are covered by the code.

she's not being a drama queen or anything just the normal course things. you may have an opinion on whether such a law is appropriate in your country but this is unremarkable of itself. people should calm down and you know read a book or something. srsly k.

I'm actually in favour of peoples actions on the internet being treated as if they were IRL. You people say things like "oh people troll like this every day online", well so what? Just because sad little fuckheads do it doesn't mean that it's ok. That being said I really don't like a prison sentence for acting this way. A hefty fine should do the trick and I'm not sure I could imagine a case where verbally assaulting someone IRL or online would warrant a prison sentence regardless of the context.

People who don't live in SK should refrain from commenting on whether Jessica's actions are "outrageous" or not. You don't live there, you are not brought up there, you know shit about their laws, so just stop all these nonsense.
So what if it's a norm in your country to harass someone else? If you can take it like a man, good for you, but why do you expect everyone else in the world to be like you?
I know people in most countries(especially US) have freedom of speech, your parents do not slap you for BMing even when you're a kid, you say whatever you like and just because everyone does it, you think it's fine, it's normal. Some people accept that, but don't expect everyone to be the same, especially people from different parts of the world where the majority of people there are brought up by strict parents. I'm not saying everyone in SK or Japan or Taiwan blablabla is a saint, but most people there are more polite and all, you get what I mean.

It's good to be mindful of other cultures, but we are all entitled to our opinions. Those opinions will be colored by our own culture and upbringing. You're essentially doing exactly what you're complaining about.

Seems like a Slayers issue to me. Most teams ban people for trolling their chat, slayers takes them to court lol.

Because its illegal to bm in korea and its perfectly acceptable to take to court? Apparently alot of people dont seem to understand that

I think many of us understand it but disagree with the law. Seems like a perfectly acceptable point of view.

In my opinion, harassment over the internet in the forms of insults, jeers, or even outright lies shouldn't be punishable by law. If there was a threat of violence or sexual assault I think that would constitute a different story (we don't know what the comments were so that very well could be the case). A threat is a threat no matter the medium.

"What you resist, persists" I feel like with these situations the only option a person has is to do their best to ignore it, roll their eyes and move on. I could be wrong because I'm really unfamiliar with how Korean culture / law handles these kinds of harassment's but I don't think this is the wisest way to deal with the situation. There are always going to be juveniles out there who say the most disgusting , disrespectful thing that their adolescent mind can think of. By letting it get to you it only serves to draw more attention to it.

straight from a legal point of view

sure they can.

factually

no they cannot if the people they are make fun of are politicians since the policy regarding regime critique has shifted greatly since the current president was elected.

More power to her. Trolls only have power as long as they aren't held accountable. I don't think this is a gross reaction in anyway. It's clear that this person clearly won't have the full extent of the law slapped down on them. It's really not how you would react to this situation, but how the person is being trolled reacts to it. If this destroys someone's self-esteem, especially when they are doing something without any return, then they should be held responsible and this is just as bad as harassment in real life.

Christ. You guys will go apeshit over any scrap given to you without even knowing what happened. The disinformation/accusations/etc. are ridiculous.

I love free-speech as much as the next red-blooded American (or wherever you may hail from), but seriously. You guys need to calm down a bit.

Someone feel free to PM me once a result has come about from this, and a well-educated update has been constructed and I might update + re-open.
