pretty sure it's true, you get an ok salary in bw teams, and pretty much nothing in a sc2 team. Your only way of getting money is winning code s

Brood War is pretty much a national sport in South Korea, probably the most popular after.. soccer. StarCraft 2 is very, very tiny in comparison over there, practically a joke. To warn against a common fallacy made on these forums, just because SC2 is the biggest esport in the US or wherever doesn't mean it's the same everywhere else, especially not in Korea. Now OGN is a huge Korean broadcasting company, at least the company it's a subsidiary of. If indeed SC2 is broadcasted by a company like OGN, is broadcasted on television, and reaches the same overwhelming Korean audience that worships Brood War, SC2 will get HUGE exposure. It's exactly what SC2 needs to go from "underground" to mainstream over in Korea. In other words, it's a huge fucking deal. Brood War does, by far. LoL isn't the country's 2nd or 3rd most popular professional sport last I checked, and it's nowhere close to coming to that point, either. Well there is a huge OGN tournament for LoL. So I would say LoL is on the rise, at least.

Also, what are the odds of KeSPA reforming in to a GeSPA (Global)? Including other major Esports teams and tournments into the fold and sort of expanding the organization infrastructure developed under BW to the whole scene. Inessence, breaking down the Korean/Foreigner barrier even more alongside GOM's efforts. This goes against cultural norms that may permiate the Association, but it expands potential sponsorship, viewership and participation on a MASSIVE scale. And with the sponsorship issue they are facing now as well as a kind of plateauing on Korean-centric success, this could be a good step overal. Although like I said, it could also lead to cultural clashing from a business perspective, but there would be stronger communication lines.. Its got its pros and cons, but overall I think it would be a wise step.

Its got its pros and cons, but overall I think it would be a wise step. They would have to make A LOT of concessions since the foreign SC2 scene has become quite accustomed to doing business in a totally different manner. Why won't the foreigners do more compromising: I don't see a lot of lower/mid tier teams/players agreeing to rules/conditions that will basically make them completely irrelevant.

Don't they? Sc2 is nowhere near as popular as BW and everyone has said the e-sports is in a precarious bubble. you would think they would exploit the biggest market out there with the loudest fans and biggest crowds (SC2 im talking about)...but I don't know, I'm no genius....

I think the problem here is not talking about problems sustaining past goals, but growing beyond them. Does the Korean Esports scene want to stay focused solely on themseleves or do they want to help grow the global scene and be able to reap greater potentail rewards from their efforts. What if that Korean TV stations decides to run an online component and be the only real television (that I know of) willing to dedicate resources to seriously support esports on a global scale. Their Korean TV channel may not care, but the company could be looking at a massive market that is within their reach to tap if they really want to. Or they could let GOM and Twitch take it.....
