GomTV have shown very good communications with countries and players outside korea..it would be sad if proleague didnt provide us with english commentary (tastosis)..which they obviously wont (at least I wouldnt think so)..since Tastosis are both in contract with GomTV.

I still see GomTV as the major league..they are far ahead..and when Proleague starts GomTV will be even better. The skill diffrence between Sc2 players and BW players will also be huge at the start..and it will take a looooooong time until proleague players are even close to players as drg, nestea, mvp, mma, mc, leenock etc.

It's probably based more on the ignorance that comes from people like you who post these sorts of comments. I never played BW competitively but I have massive respect for the community and what it's given us in return. Without its success, you wouldn't have SC2 or TL like they are today. Sick of seeing trolls trying to be funny and incite backlash. You're only helping to widen the divide between the communities rather than build something to bridge the two together.

I think there will always be a BW proleague, just like there should always be a SC2 league of some kind. one would hope players can pick and choose what they want to play

Yeah, I also watched MLG few times (well until they did p2v thing) and the game isn't that bad. It's just that I find Brood War more interesting to follow and implications of this news are pretty devastating. Still I'll wait to see if anything concrete really comes out of this and reserve my judgment until then.

Hopefully GOM / Kespa can co-exist and maybe give some AFC/NFC Superbowl game at the end of each season if they can make em coordinated a bit and also some Probowl type allstar team match :>

KesPa is really the only one forcing people to not play SC2 , blizzard wasnt stopping anyone from playing SC2 if flash wanted to he could wait out his contract and join IM

only thing blizz did is prevent KeSpa from using SC2 in tournaments since KespA and Blizzard have usch a bad history

KeSPA prevented OGN and MBCGame from having SC2 tournament. But players were free to leave their BW team to play SC2

Kespa did revoke progamer licenses when people switched over. I remember Nada had his progamer status canceled and couldn't participate in Kespa events for 3 years.

I mean, come on. We're talking about the organization that labelled the emperor himself as "traitor" when he switched over to SC2.

I can't believe that ain't still fresh on your mind, or you're just being willfully ignorant.
I seriously hope it's the former.

And the reason why OGN and MBC were able to co-exist was because BOTH of them bended over to KeSPA's demands of BW licensing fee.
GOMtv didn't bend over when they ran the TG-Sambo Intel Classics, which pissed KeSPA off and forced all of the players to stop participating in GOMtv-ran tournaments.
And I highly doubt that GOM will pay up to KeSPA just to bring players under KeSPA contract to GSL.

Honestly, I'd rather HotS come out before any SC2 Proleague starts. That, or KeSPA/OGN/GOM can set up their own ladder where they can experiment with maps more (like Barrin's 6m/7m initiative).

He would never do that, because he doesn't live in a cave and realizes starcraft 2 is the future.

Let me get this straight, everyone who still follows BW is either a) gay b) lives in a cave c) both.

As it stands, LoL is bigger than SC2. I like to look at facts. Good news is Blizzard still has a few expansions to get it right, which will help but this community is still closed off like hell.

Nope, DES labelled BoxeR as traitor.
But they also fucked NaDa over as well, they just didn't call him a traitor.
Oh, and don't get me started on their labelling SC2 players as "Prize Hunters"

To any of the newer guys to SC, allow me to explain a couple things so you can understand what this means. Brood War is pretty much a national sport in South Korea, probably the most popular after.. soccer. StarCraft 2 is very, very tiny in comparison over there, practically a joke. To warn against a common fallacy made on these forums, just because SC2 is the biggest esport in the US or wherever doesn't mean it's the same everywhere else, especially not in Korea.

Now OGN is a huge Korean broadcasting company, at least the company it's a subsidiary of. If indeed SC2 is broadcasted by a company like OGN, is broadcasted on television, and reaches the same overwhelming Korean audience that worships Brood War, SC2 will get HUGE exposure. It's exactly what SC2 needs to go from "underground" to mainstream over in Korea. In other words, it's a huge fucking deal.

I hope Blizzard is able to come to terms with Kespa before LoL dominates the e-sports scene in Korea..

Brood War does, by far. LoL isn't the country's 2nd or 3rd most popular professional sport last I checked, and it's nowhere close to coming to that point, either.

What about Organization relationships outside Korea. There is a lot of history between Blizzard,KeSPA and GOM, but I can't believe that relationships established with foreign tournaments are not going to play a role in how this whole thing pans out. Who ever has less hoops and costs for players to go through in order to be able to play both Korean and Foreign events is going to have a pretty strong negotiation trump card to play.

Which is why I made my previous post about how KeSPA will position themselves with regards to SC2. We already know they are going to have to work with Blizzard in a far closer relationship then BW, but what about player contracts? Will players still be so cool with giving KeSPA the ability to ban or prevent them from playing in certain events. Like for reasons that are more political between organizations and the player being a pawn for it.

i just hope the two companies don't strangle eachother out.

and i hope everyone can play everything (assuming they're skilled enough).
I don't want proleague to be an exclusive, no mixing, you play in proleague and only proleague kind of thing, and any rare event where things cross over is rare as all hell.
That's the only part I'm really nervous about.
