If this is the end of BW before we even get another OSL, I'll be very pissed.
It can't end like that. I'm almost crying now

Interesting to see how GomTV deals with this, obviously it'll require a lot of support from us to ensure survival.

who says MVP/NesTea and MMA will play for the ProLeague?

Who says they won't? I believe kespa won't stop them from entering. They should know sc2 is getting huge outside korea, and why avoid making money if it means people will watch them?

The most realisic scenario is: Players/Teams sign exclusive deals with GomTV or KesPa. So MMA/MVP/NesTea will only play for GomTV or KesPa, depending on who pays more/asks first.

Yeah just like what happened in BW right?

Oh wait...
Life has won two GSLs and a Blizzard Cup. NOT three GSLs.

Hi SCII Proleague. Hi SCII KeSPA. Hi progamer licenses.

Bye-bye Non-Korean starcraft! That was a great year.

Don't worry, I'm sure the community will run some foreigner-only tournaments (the Starcraft special olympics), just like we did with Brood War.

I always thought it was funny that nerds here get mad at all-female tournaments, but had no problem at all with all-foreigner tournaments. Exact same thing, really.

But seriously, HUGE news to come from Blizzard. This might be the end of the current Status Quo of SC2 players if BW proleague finishes and everyone switches over to SC2. Most of them would drop out but a lot of new Korean fans would be injected into the scene

Everyone switching? Players have come out in the open and said they would think about their futures and possibly retire. Hell, even Stork said once he's done with BW he would be more likely to check out LoL over SC2.

Just what they say. Means nothing until we actually see what happens.

I don't believe all of them are coming over to SC2.

Proleague is MUCH more exciting, just no one in SC2 has seen much of it. There's a lot more strategy involved, as well as relying on team depth instead of relying on your ace player. Also, the players enjoy proleague much more because it's a lot more easy to prepare for, so you see better games overall. Some players just send the same players over and over again on set maps, so you get a lot of mindgames and trickery once you get immersed into the storylines (i.e Brave on Chain Reaction, ZvP non-stop hydra busts on Outlier etc.)

Would be awesome if this would help the Starcraft 2 Scene in Korea get bigger!

Hope GOM and Kespa can both co-exist, and strengthen the scene together!

I hope careohx realizes what that format is based on. ._.

Anyway, 'winners league format' isn't going anywhere anytime soon. I wouldn't mind seeing a round of it.

no, if anything SC2 need more depth just like BW added more depth to SC1. LoL and SC2 are different kind of game.

Accessible does not mean less depth, at least not how I read it. If you look at the LoL client it is a million times more accesible than the Sc2 one, for instance.

I think you're quite right.

Playing SC2 for me is hard, because I for some unknown reason "fear" the ladder. There are so many things that can happen, and I just don't feel ready for it.

Although the scenario in MOBA games pretty much is the exact same, for someone reason you don't get scared. I wonder what it is ... It can't solely be the team-factor ... hmm....

while this is really exciting news, and i hope the two leagues can co-exist and create amazing content...

I'm kinda blown away at how much the korean behind him resembles Kim Il-sung.

Sorry if that's offensive or anything, but my god they look alike.

As far as I know, sc2 proleague doesn't mean that they will stop bw proleague and make every bw pros switch to sc2

It would really annoy me otherwise

Don't know why people feel this way but I have never felt something like this. I don't know the reason why you "fear" video game. I think there must be some way that Blizzard can help..

Yea LoL is way more accessible because:
- Game is free (while SC2 is impossible to play at PC Bangs)
- There is unranked play (while SC2 is ladder or nothing)
- Riot actually promotes and pushes their game everywhere

Starcraft 2 had like a massive two year head start to become ingrained into Korea, but Blizzard screwed it up so hard. Hopefully they can fix it before it becomes too late and MOBA's take over.
