We’re also working on a feature that will help players connect with other players and games that are near their location (connecting through the same IP). We believe this will primarily be used by people in internet gaming rooms, offices, dorm rooms, and local tournaments where you just want to find the guy sitting in the desk next to you. Although this may not be ready in time for the release of patch 1.5, we do intend to have this available by the time Heart of the Swarm ships.

Biggest feature, hopefully this fixes some issues.

how odd ive never had this issue playing with my roommate

"Patch 1.5 will also include significant improvements throughout the overall user interface, streaming support, antialiasing, editor and modding upgrades, new art tools, and more."

I wonder if the art tools are to make the backgrounds in the main menu and etc legitimate and more easily accessible.. even though I jsut went through the trouble of figuring out how to do it. Lol. But yea.. all these features sound pretty unexciting... when I hear "feature laden patch", I want clan support and replay viewing with friends... Those cool things battle.net 1.0 had. Le sigh.

No balance changes?

There was already a major balance change with the last patch. You have to let the metagame settle for a while in order to decide if further balance changes are needed.

If neither of you had a good internet connection it would be different. This is like pseudo-lan, and it will help in tournaments and whatnot a ton.

I'm very happy with blizzard, these changes are what I've been wanting forever. I hope they bring in replay sharing too...

Chins up everyone, it's moving in the right direction! We just have to keep pushing for improvements and eventually it'll get there. Seems to me they had to make some internal changes to implement the forward thinking movement, and hiring, training, etc. all take time. The fruit will taste sweeter now that we've waited too!

Edit: It's not at all off-topic, considering that a large chunk of Dustin Browder's blog post spoke about adding anti-aliasing features to the game.

I think we all as gamers know what anti-aliasing is, at least with a general idea of what it is. I don't think it's necessary to go so far in depth really. I'll just let this go for now.

I'd be impressed if they actually fixed all the main problems instead of 1 every several months. Still no group replay viewing or clan support yet even though it's been in Warcraft 3 for a decade. Still no embedding Twitch.tv Starcraft 2 tournament streams into the launch splash page when logging into Battle.net.

The new custom game listing system is still unproven and may still be awful. Blizzard killed custom maps in SC2 with their trash system that was designed to sell DLC maps, not be user friendly. Ironically, their trash system killed the custom map community so they can't even get anyone to make maps worth selling.

There was far more variety and creativity in custom maps for Warcraft 3, and every new map got a fair shake to become popular because it would show up in the open list for people to see and try even if it was brand new.

This looks like they are still doing nothing in response to public criticism and concern. Oh I can resize a chat window and connect with my people who use my ISP? Group replays, LAN mode, where are you? This still solves none of the problems or works on any suggestions from the community.

One of the most significant additions will be the all new Arcade feature which includes improved custom game visibility, ratings,

Rating? that would be nice
Thought that blizzard held the opinnion that it was better if people could not see their rating but it would be realy nice if they have come to their senses now
Might actually start 1 vs 1

Also expected balance changes like others in this tread.
Seems weird to not grab the occasion to do some more fine tuning, the next patch might be weeks/months later.

That's wishful thinking considering the way it's phrased and how half baked the rest of this update is. I honestly think it's just going let you find people online without messing with character codes if they connect from the same network

You know it's a sad state of affairs when as a community, we're celebrating features that should have been in the game to begin with.

Regardless, faith in Blizzard = somewhat restored.
