They don't mean physically bigger. They mean more people, as well as operator support like you see in IRC and the old Bnet's.

Also, I know why people keep thinking that paragraph means a semi-lan mode, but it's because they're not actually finishing the paragraph. :/ People are focusing on the first sentence, which poorly uses the word 'connect' to mean 'find', instead of the last sentence which clarifies it.

There may still be a lot to come, since this is only a tiny preview. I don't think people are reacting as much to the tiny preview, as they are to people who think this preview unveils something large or important.

I would wait until HotS. That is a pretty big feature (these are all relatively small changes, except for perhaps the Arcade), so they may be saving it for release or Beta.

The main thing I like is Blizz is attempting to answer the complaints about the UI that have resurfaced over the past month or two. I just hope they do it right this time.

Remember not only to say the right thing in the right place, but far more difficult still, to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment.

I think they confused wanting bigger chat channels (>100 occupants) with bigger chat channel windows. Seems like a pretty superficial update to me.

Actually, those features are coming, but they are obviously tied up with other (maybe less productive) features or perhaps running into bigger problems than expected when trying to implement these replay features.

It's Blizzard. I've come to expect a slow, sometimes baffling development process.

I'm sceptic about these changes, the interface of the game is ok. I think the reason why starcraft 2 is not doing well is that the Game itself is not very good. Its robust, well-designed and overall solid, but not fun. Just my opinion. Or maybe overall RTS genre is in crisis.

From what I understand, the majority of users (that are at least being vocal) aren't too happy with the interface. I for one am excited for a) more customizability and b) a greater effort at improving social interactions.

As for part 2 of your post, I'd say that SC2 is doing well among the RTS games that have been produced in recent years, but I think that you're right in that the genre is in trouble. Too many users get frustrated by beginner-unfriendliness, and want less challenge and an easier game to play. COD is easy: Move and shoot, and you can become a decent player if you're moderately good at the two. Killstreaks make the game rewarding. Obviously there's a little more to it at higher levels but my point is that it's easy to pick up. SC2 has much more depth than your average game, so people will probably go back to Angry Birds or something. Also the fact that SC2 is PC-only immediately reduces the pool of available gamers. Consoles are only growing in popularity over PC games.

If you've never played WoW before, you can download the game while playing. Once you have all the basic models and textures and mechanics/UI, you can start playing pretty much. When you want to play the campaign, you'll download the first level of the campaign, and then you can play it. While the full SC2 download client is ~5gb or something like that, what you need to play say the first level of the campaign is going to be only like 1gb or something like that.

they finally gonna improve their shitty chat channels. I wanted real chat channels, not enhanced whisper boxes. Cant wait for this.

Best patch yet! Honestly, they don't go far enough with the chat channels: you should default to a channel when you sign in. is never really realized how important that was to see the community while playing

One step at a time. As cool as Blizzard is, they can't miraculously whip out the change we all want within the span of even a few weeks. If anything, this change should show us that they are at least taking steps towards these ends (although some things, like LAN, don't seem as negotiable).
