Katu is as bad a player as he is a caster. 1st info here.

Was it obvious Katu was trolling? Yes, even if his tone didn't convey it, the content made it obvious.
Should he have done it? No, it's a touchy subject in the community and he should learn to navigate social space a bit better.
Does he deserved to get ostracized for it? No, he deserves a chance to learn from this. Sadly it seems like the majority disagrees and that's who ultimately decides.

I wonder if the korean forums will pick up on this. They sure as hell won't be so forgiving of Dragon. it was indeed quite weird that dragon suddenly decided to make a techlab on his factory instead of a reactor... The bunker was even stranger. Why would he build it on top of the ramp and not in his nat? The bunker starts just as the Roach warren completes. Either way what Katu did wasn't anything outrageous. I think the community should forgive him. Can't blame the guy for accusing a cheater as a cheater. Boy, thats a great attitude. Once a cheater always a cheater? People never change or reform right? Let me guess, you support the death penalty too? people don't change unless they actually have a major reason to or hit their head and lose parts of theuir brain. google phineas gage.
I'm studying cognitive science so I think I know who Phineas Gage is. People change all the time, because behavior the result of both genetic dispositions as well as environmental learning. The idea that people don't change is only true to an extent and doesn't cover something like cheating in a computer game, lol.

I know Katu in real life and i know he is a joker. Anyway if its Dragon was involved in a scandal it will stick to him like it or not. You can't denie the past. We all do mistake , some bigger than other. As long as there is an apology its ok.

just watched that vod and Katu was clearly trolling, he even told it multiple times... Of course he took that trolling a little bit far. But it's not like he wanted to purposefully hurt Dragon's career or something else ridiculous that some people are trying to make up in this chat. I even had to laugh alongside Katu when he read the chat. I really don't understand what all this drama is about. Maybe it's just people on the internet loving drama...

What he said was essentially akin to "Protoss can't beat Terran, google EGJYP." -_-

This is bad, but what annoys me the most is when people go, "im not trying to imply anything here" "im just putting it out there" just saying just saying etc etc. If your going to be a dick, atleast man up

*sigh*
All you people acting from a moral high ground. "Accusing", "disgrace", "disrespectful", "unprofessional". The guy is not even a professional after all. He's casting this for nothing (or a handful of dollars, that amount is most probably so low, that you cannot describe him as a professional), creating free content for the community, Because he likes it, because thinks its fun, because he is a good guy. Where do these absurdly high moral standards come from?
Guys, we're still a bunch of 12-30 year olds playing and watching a computer game. In this case, for 75$. Put things into perspective. Fanboyism is nice and all, but it's a computer game. A guy casting because he thinks it's fun. Why so serious? Enjoy the game, enjoy the free casting you get, enjoy that Playhem frackin' flies your idol with a little shady past to IPL4 for nothing!
Go out, listen to people chattering, bickering, talking. This is not Equestria (there are no pitchforks anyway afaik). This is earth.

Notice how every single pro asked about the incident says the community has blown it way out of proportion? Too bad everyone wasn't as rational as them.

Just speaking personally, it is a hellova lot harder to enjoy the game when people are "trolling". It is one thing to joke and have a good time, but being a complete asshole on a touchy subject at someones expense really isn't all that fun. I'm not saying we should hang Katu like most people are wanting to do, but it should be known that being a complete dick shouldn't be acceptable. Just my opinion, and I will probably try to avoid anything Katu is casting in the future.

Dragon drops third CC while being roach rushed "He's obviously stream cheating" HE DISRESPECTED (trolled the chat) A PLAYER WHO CHEATED IN THE PAST, EVERYONE GET YOUR PITCHFORKS OUT!! TEACH THIS NOOB SOME RESPECT!! please, get a grip. It was so obvious that he was trolling i can't even fathom anyone actually taking this seriously. It's ok for you to be offended by this because you did not realize that he was just joking around, or because you're a huge Dragon fan(atic) but please, your misunderstanding does not means that Katu should be "punished" for it. That's just ridiculous. I thought it was a bad troll, and an unfunny troll, but a troll nevertheless.
As an example: When Ret made that horrendous troll of Grubby mentoring Feast, some people ( me included) considered it to be a dick move. None suggested punishing Ret by any means. (And yes i know that was not during a cast, but this was a Playhem daily casted by a non-proffesional for a 75 dollars price, streamed to like 300 people. This wasn't GSL or MLG.

To be honest, I think the reason why most of Dragon's fans are taking it more seriously than other people is simply because its sort of an embarrassing event for him. It's pretty much a black mark in the history of a really fun and very personable guy who has a lot of fans. To have it brought up during the finals when almost all of his fans are watching, especially in the manner of which it was talked about and the way he was portrayed, was pretty hurtful for a lot of fans. That's all it is, and I don't think the guy should lose his job for it, but what sort of response do you expect?

imo all the negative attention around this caster is punishment enough already. He's certainly "learned his lesson" and im pretty sure we wont have more of this coming from him (or any caster from playheim) in the future.
for the record, not saying what he did was anything but wrong, but yeah, dont see why this has to go any further than what it has.

Has Dragon cheated in the past? Yes he has, that is a fact.
Did Katu stipulate that Dragon was currently stream cheating? Not directly, no.
Katu never blatantly stated that Dragon was cheating currently, he was making a joke, yes, perhaps in poor taste, but this is just way out of proportion.

It actually isn't a fact. All he is guilty of so far is using a smurf account. There was never punishment or admission of him stream cheating. If you know something the rest of us don't know then please link your sources.

Well this situation was far more boring than i hoped for going in...

It will continue to go on as long as people such as yourself and me keeps posting about it.

Granted I wouldn't claim that everyone who is reacting strongly to this were/are Dragon fanboys, but I do think what you said is pretty spot on. What do I expect? Exactly what happened, but that's mainly because I know Playhem and other tournaments can no longer show support for Katu in risk of alienating viewers (since it is evident that the number would be significant). What I expect though is not what I wish would happen. It's pretty ridiculous how support for personalities in this community is so lopsided. While I could list a multitude of events that people haven't grabbed the pitchforks or have quickly forgiven the individual, it would just be counter productive to stir up past drama. I think this is what is ultimately making my head hurt; how some personalities can get away with murder (obviously not literally) and for others its if they trip once, they're fucked.

little fun fact or the whole reddit-hate-thread in a word cloud. some words removed for better presentation (as "stream", "comment" etc)
