Fact, 7x arena and gold membership is 170 dollars for the whole year. Now then, the people who insist that people are too cheap to pay, tell me that everyone can afford that and those that complain are just being cheap and does not want to contribute... It's not about contributing or not contributing to e-sports, it's about supporting what you think is fair and what model of business you would like professional SC2 to be formed after in the future, hence MLG does not get my money this time around.

MLG provides nothing so special that they deserve to charge a unique and exorbitant fee.
I think we have a duty to show that this business model will not stand, because we can be sure that if MLG weekend events become a success as PPV then so will all the other big ones.

I can't even fathom your logic. Taking away the arena events by aggressively trying to let it fail to not let your gold membership 'lose value'? Seriously?

20$ is too much. Don't get me wrong, I've bought GSL/GSTL and homestory cup etc. so i am willing to ppv. But 20$ for like 10 hours i can watch giving the time it's broadcasted is just not worth it.

No one is entitled to free content. If this is what it takes for the esports orgs to be profitable, so be it. Obviously few organizations will actually be able to provide a product people are willing to pay premium for, but it's possible mlg is one of them. Furthermore, they will still host events that are free to watch.
I didn't think that there's enough value for me personally at $20, but all this irrational, entitled whining is making me reconsider as I do want it to be a success, with or without my support.

Well, no MLG for me. This sucks.

Sorry but 20$ is too much. 5-10 is fine.

To Blizzard, you are not allowed to have it PPV.
Quote blizzard:
For clarity, please note that as long as the website that hosts your Production provides a free method to allow viewers to see the Production, Blizzard Entertainment will not object to your Production being hosted on that site, regardless of the site's "for pay" premium service plans.
But i guess they have found a way around that one ..........

But i guess they have found a way around that one .......... They do provide a free method, just a week later. Also the notion that MLG hasn't cleared this, if it is even necessary, with blizzard is laughable.

Noo MLG, you're doing it wrong. You make the Arena free, then make the Championship PPV. That way people already watched the hyped up Arena, and are more compelled to buy the Championship for closure.

Sundance truly believes the entire future of esports depends on him. He is in love with himself. Everytime Sundance makes a statement to try and convince people that he's in it for the love of eSports I just cover my ears and hum loudly. Just tell us it's a business, period. Or don't say anything at all... His been saying it's a business for a long time now, Ppl choose to ignore that part of what he says and just focus on the dreamy parts. Problem is it's a business, but he makes it looks like a charity.

20$ for up-and-coming casters?
|
At least the stream won't lag with so few viewers...
|
20$ is nothing but if more tournaments start doing this it will get start to get expensive, and i wont support that. Homestorycup was only 5€ for even more and better content than mlg ever had and thats a much more reasonable price. E-sports have survived and grown this long without ppv and will continue to do so.

That's just ridiculous. Assembly it is.

It's ridiculous that he won't at least try a lower price and a smaller Arena prize pool before giving up.
In his mind, it's $20 or nothing. I really think he should try $10 for the next Arena and reduce prize pool from $26,000 to $10,000 (like MLG pro circuit events last year) if this one underperforms.

Yes, by having a business agreement and a contract with Blizzard. Blizzard is not forced to have the same rules for everyone.

I do agree that esports has to become ppv to actually make some money and be stable, but i think 20 is a lot. I might buy it
