Have you ever seen Goody play TvP back when he Meched? He had so much trouble with Carriers he would dot the map with missile turrets in preparation for Carriers or Colossus. | ||

That's a very easy, yet short-shorted comparison to make when you consider the perspective that you have complete foresight into how those units' buffs resolved. You can't possibly claim to know how the Carrier would turn out, nor is it fair to place the onus upon everyone else you would argue. It's not black and white. Stop trying to make it out to be. If mech makes a comeback in HotS it'll actually be a mainstay in lategame PvT, and unlike it's Tempest counterpart it can both fight and kick the shit out of vikings. It's the marines that give Carriers problems. PvZ lategame they're extremely viable but the current metagame allows Zerg to ramp to a sick economy, which means they might produce upwards of 20-30 corruptors simultaneously whom then snap the carriers in half. If the Tempest were to replace the Carrier in WoL it would be destroyed two times harder with it's sub-optimal DPS. PvP lategame is evolving and may one day reach a point where Carriers become the apex lategame go-to unit after the Colossus. | ||

Terran had goliaths. It was a battle of positioning and maneuvre who would win. There would also be switch ups in unitcompositions. You could kills the goliaths and overpower the terran. Or you could snipe tanks and roll over the goliaths with a rounds off dragoons. Terran could snipe your observers and swoop in with a suprise wraithswitch. A round of templar could storm the goliaths. Upgraded marines and valkyries were the best interceptorkillers lol. Zerg could counter with scourge if there was not enough corsair cover. Plague, swarm in combo with hydra. Why am I talking about broodwar? I didn't see such interesting dynamics in WoL. The hardcountersystem doesn't leave much room for multiple possible counters that are somewhat interesting. edit awesome video sarcasmmonster. It explains a lot. | ||

They had such a great unit with great micro and great decision making and they just turned it into something far less interesting. This really deserves a thread on its own especially that the carrier is now back in HoTS. | ||
