Maybe Game Developers Conference? Some Blizzard developers will be there afaik.

It was already on a small decline, so I'd have to imagine that it's only been doing worse....... that is, of course, worse from fucking ridiculously well.

I don't think it's going to be some "event." Just a date they set to release updated information. Possibly an announcement of when the beta will begin.

Possibly an announcement of when the beta will begin. Pretty much this, they called it a " global press event" which in the past has meant that they either released some big info regarding their titles on the website and/or invited a few selected press people like Teamliquid.Net to Blizzard HQ to show off the latest stuff in their games. That's about it.

It's just wierd for them to announce a specific date for when info will be released, unless it's an event like they did with their wow press tour thing. Just not something they usually do, at least from what i can remember
edit: ah, it's a press event

Diablo 3 - Target Q2 (lol!) WoW:MoP - Summer 2012
That means there is very high chance that HoTS will NOT be released this year, beta will probably last for 3-4 months then ~2 month break between end of beta and release, and beta wont start before WoW:MoP beta ends (around May-June), so easy math and if they doesn't have any delays (it Blizzard ofc they will lol) then it should be released in December, otherwise 2013. You are just guessing. According to a blizz guy on twitter, MoP is far from release. I just analyze what he said, "at least" two releases in 2012 are indicating that HoTS might not be released in 2012. I highly doubt they will count dota as a one of the two releases. So I am still banking on 2012 for hots. And I doubt we will get dota free in a patch with WoL, we will more than likely have to pay for hots to play dota. So it will be released with hots is what I am guessing. 2 releases are Diablo 3 and WoW:MoP I know you really want your MoP but I read from a blizz guy on twitter that it is far from release. Oh a guy on twitter said something, ye thats better source of information than Blizzard Conference... and btw I dont play WoW Link to the tweet? https://twitter.com/#!/BlizzardCSGo to the Feb 7th tweets, a guy asked about beta for MoP and he said "we do not currently have a projected date available. Keep an eye on our forums though." I will find the other one.
Kottick knows his cash cow is looking a little sickly. He knows in order to trade up for some extremely fertile chickens (HoTS and e-sports) with which to start his KFC (Kottick Fried Chicken) Empire that he needs to milk his cash cow for all it's worth as fast as possible. Hence MoP will be out before SC2: HotS so HotS has a good foundation upon which to flap it's chicken e-sport wings and fly!

I'm kinda worried about WoW subscriber numbers falling. Shareholders and executives always react so irrational and emotional when a very succesful product nears the end of it's lifecycle and the profits of a company fall to more normal levels again.

To imply that Kotick is capable of thinking more than 6 months in the future is preposterous. Wall street bad-boy Kotick will just do whatever makes the stakeholders salivate.

I quite WoW a while ago. I am very interested to see what happens to the game as it slowly declines. I wonder if Blizzard will actually add the challanging content that so many players want without nerfing it.
I mean, doing PvE to get to level PvP gear is just wrong.

but thats how you get a pve player to play pvp whats wrong about that?
i wish they had this when i was still playn. you had to play only one of both to have decent gear. assuming you do something else than wow.

It's super expensive to make (compared to other things they could be doing, that bring in actual revenue like pets and RMAH like projects) and the real core players would have it done in a day, unless by challenging you mean repetitive.

SC2 is great as is.... an expansion will just mix everything up and change all the dynamics. Things change enough as the players develop already, I think they are wise to let SC2 mature as is for a while longer yet.
HoTs will be to SC2 what SC2 was to BW..... why rush it? I think they are making the right decision to wait, they can release the expansion anytime why cannibalize themselves sooner than they need to.

imo the game needs hots. hots will be the brood war of sc2. sc2 needs a new element that brings out more skill and high lvl play. i sincerely hope hots will focus on upping the competitive play with new skill/micro intensive units.

What I don't understand is why they would say "at least two" games will be released and reveal that one of them is Diablo 3, but not reveal which of the other two titles is possible to fall into 2013.
My thought is that none of the investors care about SC2 so why they care that it is being pushed back to 2013? The investors would care about the timing of the WoW expansion since it is Blizzard's main source of revenue. I suspect that they wanted to hide the fact that the WoW expansion is a long ways off.
Notice how Morheim didn't answer the question about how WoW's subscriptions have been doing since the start of 2012; I expect that they want to reveal as little "bad" information as possible. So they mention the three titles and mention that two will be released, but don't specify which of the others it will be that is a year away.

It's always a hard discussion when investors are in the equation. The best choice for them isn't really always the best choice for esports.

This is bad, IMO. Activision is known to rush Blizzard, and might pressure them into making a release date before Blizzard feels like the time is good and proper. I hope that this isn't the case and that I'm just ignorant >.<

This is so not true, just look at how long was sc2 delayed and how long is d3 delayed now.
As for Blizzard releases this year, it will probably be d3, wow: mop and sc2: hots (they said 2 major releases not counting diablo which should've been released last year) d3 - they said q2 so it's coming out this year wow: mop - last content patch is already out so there's no way it will be long before they release it, probably summer/autumn sc2: hots - I'd guess christmas release time

From my understanding MoP is a long long ways off from being done. I'm not even sure it's in alpha, and it was only recently announced that it even existed at Blizzcon 4 months ago. It makes sense that they would choose MoP over HotS, because of the subscribers they get with WoW, but from a development standpoint, I think they are a lot further along with HotS then they are with MoP.
Though I suppose this isn't their first rodeo when it comes to WoW expansions and the time it takes them to get to the market is probably much quicker than StarCraft would be.

Well they had the starting Panda zone 70% complete at Blizzcon. There was no female pandas yet and some quest triggers were not finished, but you could do the full leveling 1-10.
They have consistently released videos of the various zones. The game needs to come out sooner than later with the last content patch will only keep people interested 1-2 more months.
One thing that has been delayed quite a bit is the Starcraft Marketplace. Maps and custom maps where you could sell and buy them. Blizzard DOTA sounds like it is going to be some sort of Free-to-Play map but with ways to buy into parts of it.
Also, the distribution channel chart, hints at two new mmos?
