Only good news out of the whole conference call. Hearing about the Diablo 3 news doesn't really surprise me at all.

They're not really falling. The big 12m -> 10m drop was primarily in the east and 1 million annual subscribers in the west is ridiculous.

MoP before Hots doesn´t mean "not this year".
Could litterally just mean MoP in october HOTS in December.

Can you blame them? that is a seriou cut in profit, ofc they don't like it...

100.000 subs loss is like nothing, when there are more than 10 million players already, also MoP will bring back atleast 200k-500k

What I can make out of this is just no hots this year.
D3 is almost out of the door, and MoP takes priority over sc because they have to keep addicts fed and their wallet full in the meantime.
They have already stated "no more major patches for wow till the expansion", which basically means "we have to push the next exp out asap, we cannot keep these players addicted for much longer without new fresh content".

Why did you feel the need to use the word addicts?

So we learned nothing except that D3 has been delayed once again. Nothing here says no hots in 2013, all we know from this is that they PLAN to release the panda shit and diablo this year and panda comes before hots, that is all.

Non addicted players don't feel the need for fresh and new content, they are more casuals and such, they will enjoy whatever is on the plate at any given time.
Addicts, like I once used to be, devour content, and demand new one to be made asap. Those people, which are a big portion of the playerbase (since content is much more accessible now), want and demand more and more, blizzard can't keep them farming the same 7 bosses for over a year. (last major patch for cataclysm came out in nov).

I believe MoP has to come out this year (probably summer/early fall) because Cataclysm is already in its last content patch. They can't keep the WoW playerbase happy for a year without content updates. It doesn't work in an MMO, because it's subscription based. Players demand new content regularly.

This isn't so much a case of addiction, but of the fact that people are paying a monthly subscription rather than a single purchase. They pay good money to get regular content updates.

Non addicted/casual players also want new content. Stop saying stupid things since apparently you've never played WoW and have no idea how things work

Video game addiction is a very real thing, and Blizzard knowingly exploits it with WoW.

was there a hint as to when HOTS beta might be released?

Overall, these news were all pretty expected

10 million WoW addicts, thats quite a high number. I sincerely have no idea how that many people can like (read be addicted) such a lame game...
If I were Activision I would for sure force Blizzard to keep profiting on those addicted, since so far it is not considered illegal like drugs are.
