Battlenet is more than just WoW and SC2
|
Holy shit at the 50 million active on Battle.net. I wonder how much of that is SC2. 10 mil for WoW. How many beta keys have they sent out for D3? I doubt WC3 and BW combined make up more than a few million of it at this point.
|
Do they include the old battle.net though too for BW/WC3/D2? If that's the case I woudln't be too shocked at those numbers but if that's only Battle.Net 2.0 users then I would be very interested to see how many accounts are SC2.
|
i wonder how many people who play starcraft 2 now will switch over to diablo when it comes out.
|
How is it possible battle.net has 50mio active users?? Let's say WoW has 10mio, SC2 6mio( probably more like 4.), D3 around 4. Diablo2/Wc3/Bw together 10mio.
Where do the rest come? I was really generous with those numbers. I'm really doubtful there's more than 5 million SC2 active accounts, we can barely get to 100k stream viewers on big tournaments.

I for example have 2 sc2 and 1 wow account (all different email adresses - which means different battle.net accounts)
but it would be interesting to know how many sc2 accounts are active

OP keeps spelling ESPORTS wrong >.>
Yay for more BLizzard in ESPORTS!

It depends on how much they squeezed within their definition of "active".
If they managed to come up with a number like 50 million, I'm pretty damn sure they're still counting my 4 WoW accounts, none of which have an active subscription, 3 of which haven't been touched in years and the last one is a starter pack, and 2 SC2 accounts, neither of which was played actively in the last 3-4 months.
Using a common sense definition of "active" (people who play games regularly on weekly or even monthly basis), they'd be lucky to reach 10-12 mil.

One doesn't simply pay monthly for WoW to not play it, so EASY 10 million there. I don't think they're counting dead accounts, but active means probably a few times a month which isn't really "active." I could see a legit 20 million being on reguarily playing blizzard games, but not 50. They're including smurfs, and accounts that aren't used in what a game would consider "active."

that's what happened haha

....to all the people being surprised at the 50M number, iirc that's with Call of Duty factored in. So it's really not that surprising. Too bad there was nothing fun today though.
|
No HotS announcement today?
|
|
Bah no estimate on HOTS, interesting none-the-less though.
"World of Warcraft now has 10.2M active subscribers. World of Warcraft lost 100,000 subscribers, down to 10.2 million."
I found that hilarious. As mediocre as WoW has gotten, Blizzard sure knows how to keep their customers.

im still pretty sure that a blizzard mvp said there will be info today
