Diablo 3 - Target Q2 (lol!) WoW:MoP - Summer 2012
That means there is very high chance that HoTS will NOT be released this year, beta will probably last for 3-4 months then ~2 month break between end of beta and release, and beta wont start before WoW:MoP beta ends (around May-June), so easy math and if they doesn't have any delays (it Blizzard ofc they will lol) then it should be released in December, otherwise 2013. You are just guessing. According to a blizz guy on twitter, MoP is far from release.
I just analyze what he said, "at least" two releases in 2012 are indicating that HoTS might not be released in 2012.

The Idea that HotS beta will come soon keeps me to play SC2

I missed the beginning. Did they ever mention how many subs they lost in WoW the final quarter of 2011?

They don't want to release an expansion of SC2 yet. They have chosen to let the existing balance survive for longer while trying to grow esports with SC2. I think its good for the SC2 esports scene.... because an expansion will only mess up a good thing. Why rush it.
HoTS WILL grow esports and I doubt the pros will switch over right away, they wanna finish up any tournys or upcoming tourneys for WoL first. So because of that, they should release it in 2012. And DB said by April 2012 (well, he said in March 2011, the development should be done in a year) it should be pretty much done

Sorry to burst everyones bubble but are they not referring to the fiscal year of 2012 in these conference calls? And as far as I know the fiscal calender starts in March. So fiscally speaking Q1 is March - May and Q2 is June-August.

I highly doubt they will count dota as a one of the two releases. So I am still banking on 2012 for hots. And I doubt we will get dota free in a patch with WoL, we will more than likely have to pay for hots to play dota. So it will be released with hots is what I am guessing.

The difference is that WoW represents a LOT more money for blizzard than sc2, and is reaching the end of its life cycle, so they have much more incentive to keep people playing for a little while. EQ is going free to play this month after 13 years as a subscription MMO. EQ never had even a tenth of the players WoW has so I'd expect WoW to keep bringing in the money until 2020. The "closest competitor", SWTOR, sold 2M and now the server load is about half of what it was back at launch so that can't be taking too many subs any more.

I hope there's a lot of yelling at Activision for tanking their franchises.

You are taking your own speculation as fact without any support of your statement.
Cool story bro.

I'm pretty sure they said they'll have more information about HotS in the coming months--not in a month.

In this case, what he said was unwarranted and irrelevant to the conversation at hand. Thus his opinion is being presented in an aggressive manner. No one here was discussing the quality of WoW as this thread is not for discussing the quality of WoW. He is of course entitled to his opinion but this was not the place for it.
