Please make sure to read the statement from Naniwa that is linked in the full article before commenting. |

You bastard. How the hell are ya? Haven't seen you around in a while.
Hi Alvalanker 2's
So Naniwa probably wanted a raise because of his performance at MLG and Complexity says no; this is just speculation someone else noted.
Or maybe there was some kind of internal issue going on like Naniwa said no other players from Complexity coming to Korea but isn't that kind of odd since he'd be staying at the MVP House?

NaNiwa's dedication for the game really can't replace the fact that he will get lonely with his approach to being better. I see this decreasing being in a team with someone that has been your friend for a long time, best of luck to NaNiwa in the Blizzard Cup and January Code S.

Complexity without Nani is basically just a group of friends with some sponsors. They can't really win anything though and no one cares much about them.
Him being lonely makes sense, but I don't see how coL couldn't work an arrangement out that keeps Nani on their team but lets him move in with Sase or someone (maybe the EG guys?). I mean, if you have sponsors, they want their brand being broadcast and at this point that's no longer happening. Just lol. Be asshole, get more money! No. Well I mean, if you are the sole reason your company has any success, you can be as much of an asshole as you like.
That's the exact situation coL's SC2 division is in. There is pretty much no reason whatsoever to sponsor them other than Nani and now he's gone. The rest of the team might as well not even be considered "progamers."

oh wow this is totally unexpected. Best of luck to Naniwa on QxG!

Remember in Twilight where the Cullens family have a collage of graduation caps in different colors up on the wall in their house?
Naniwa has the same, but with team jerseys.

I really can't take the entire foreign scene been looked down upon by Koreans because every foreign top player (in Korea) seems to be a BM asshole in persona or in truth (except Jinro and HuK T.T).
Case in point, iDra, CutePincessBritneyMajor, and Naniwa... (Stephano to some degree because in many's eyes he's just a kid who could care less about SC2 in comparison to those who bet their lives on the game) I'm pretty sure the Korean scene doesn't look down on Idra or Naniwa in any way even if they are BM. Every interview I've seen with a Korean pro asking them about their opinions has been the same. They consistently say Idra and Nani are great players who are no different from Koreans.

He recieved a Code S spot from finishing 2nd in MLG Providence.

quantic has really been stepping it up kinda came out of nowhere i never really thought naniwa was a good fit in col anyways
pardon my beliefs, but I really feel like col is a second rate team (B-Class players) that does not sport the same calibur players as naniwa (but if you asked me 2 months ago.. i would have said "quantic who?")
I mean no offense to the col players, that is just my opinion of their skill, and by definition that probably makes me a D-Class player.

I don't know much about CoL's business model, but I'm confident Naniwa is not their sole reason for success. Being successful doesn't entitle you to being an asshole, but it does make it more likely people will put up with you being one. If someone signed a contract with me, starting being a dick and demanding more money, I sure as hell wouldn't give it to them.
Obviously neither of us no exactly what happened here. Maybe Nani was a sparkling ray of sunshine. Maybe he was a whiny little diva. Point is, rewarding people for bad behavior is generally not the right approach.

This is definently the issue here. Loving how the herd is eating up coL's generic PR about "core values" lol. Nobody even bothers to read naniwa's interview. Though it seems rather silly for QxG to include coL's announcement without including naniwa's in the OP.

Can't say i agree with the move, but gl to him.

That's a quite weak "lambasting and criticizing."

They probably wanted more hits on their site and figured that leaving Naniwa's statement on their site only would make people go to it.

After reading Naniwa's statement, the move makes sense actually.. Feeling at home and being comfortable with where you're at can play a huge role! Can't see Nani & SaSe living together being a bad thing given how hard both of them work!
|
GL nani team coL is entirely irrelevant now, I find it weird that, especially upon seeing how amazing nani was at MLG, they wouldn't sign another top player and send that player to practice with him. Nani and sase are good friends so I'm sure the swedish brotoss brothers will do great! Quantic quickly becoming one of the most interesting foreigner teams for sure.
