This. Compared to BW, SC2 has hardly any micro and map control. ;/ And blizzard won't fix it. They want a simple game they can balance around flawed gameplay design. Micro would require LAN and LAN is something they don't want...
well dude thats bs micro do not require lan in ANY kind, today we are in 2011 and battlenet have absolute zero delay, its really better then lan in sc1 ever was so i dont see why this should be the case and it seems as being only nolanwhine and not task to this topic
also sc2 have way more micro in compare to macro if you compare it to sc1. in sc1 you had to do way more macro so when the pros switch with their 400 apm they have alot of spare time and you will see whole new sc2 micro appear !
this sc2 whines really anoys me
but you got to admit though, great micro and macro are much more visible in BW than in sc2. just have to youtube boxer's immortal marines to see this in action. there are also many WHERE THE FUCK DID THAT ARMY COME FROM moments in BW, but none that i have seen in sc2.

Dont get me wrong, I'm here 99% for SC2 and I'd be lying if I said I wasnt excited by this. But from most of what I hear, all viewer numbers are still in SCBW, all sponsors are there, vast majority of fans still follow SCBW over SC2. Mostly everything seems to point towards SCBW just being a lot more popular. The one thing SC2 has going for it is the international scene which really only is available for the absolute top and profitable for very few players, as well as obviously the potential of growth (better jump on the train now before it goes too far too catch).
But still, so if I was the head coach of a team or some other powerful individual in the Korean SCBW world, why would I want to switch? Or is this whole talk about SCBW being more popular bullshit and SC2 is doing well compared to BW?
I think the international effect is really understated.
Korea isn't that big, and BW doesn't exist anywhere else really. Maybe not as big of a point, but a lot of players like traveling. SC2 gives young korean progamers the chance to travel around the world to a bunch of Amazing places. BW really doesn't. Teams are dropping out of BW because of sponsorship. Maybe the sponsors are looking for something new. Something they can use to advertise around the world.
Companies like LG, Samsung, Hyundai, and Kia have way more to gain sponsoring SC2, these are brand names people recognize everywhere. I think it might be difficult for some fans to transition, but it looks like the players are doing fine, the teams are up for it, and the sponsorships will be rolling in.
BW is like a TV show that's run for a really long time. It might have a lot of die hard fans, but it's popularity is slowly being usurped by a newer TV show that isn't recorded on a wet, cracked, iPhone first gen lense.
Teams dont Drop out of Esports not BW. so it isnt positive for SC2 either.
and if Samsung would think like u im pretty sure they would already have their SC2 team and wouldnt support BW anymore.
u have this LG Hyundai or whatever. they throw 50k in and that sit. nice sponsors.
People need 2 realize that not BW is dying but Esports in korea.
Wow, this is so hard to digest. In some way I wanna see these S-level players compete in SC2 to see how they would do but on the other hand BW has forged a legacy that shouldn't be broken by something like this T_T.
I'm also interested how all of this has came to be? It's a bit odd, a sudden "interest" in SC2 popping out of nowhere. My thoughts go quickly towards ActivisionBlizzard's hand in this, it would be quite good if the BW pros switch to SC2 for them.
I hope BW stays alive forever, I'm a big fan of SC2 but personally I don't think it can do as much as BW has done and continues to do.

As far as I understand it's only in Korea that BW is more popular than SC2 - in the rest of the world they don't even play in the same league, SC2 is leaps ahead of BW. I'm not a follower of BW, so just a quick question to you guys that are: how is the race balance in BW? Not as in actual game balance, but as in how many players per race, does a race have more really top pros than the others etc? Would be nice if we got some more non-terrans (especially P) that could bring some innovation Hope the BW pros live up to the hype if and when they switch.

there is a lot of potential, so many pros just put their whole army in 1 control group and a click.
I wonder if its possible to transfer the economic infrastructure BW has to sc2. Because most of the top BW players make a substantial amount playing BW. I wonder if all that is required is like....sponsors giving their "ok"? I dont know it seems tough. I fully support the switch even if it means the decline of BW. It will be sad but change can sometimes bring great things.

The racial balance is fine. There might be a bit too many zergs at the top right now but that's about it. The mapmakers will fuck them over anyway in the coming season
In terms of game balance, T > Z > P > T (i.e. maybe 55% winrates) but at the current highest level of play, this actually gets reversed with Flash (T) > Bisu (P) > Jaedong (Z) >Flash (T). So the game is pretty much as balanced as possible.

im a bit shocked people think that the sc teams wont change as bW is so big in Korea, so what, the companies sponsering them are seeing the amount of tournaments outside of korea and the sponsehip they could be doing. They see how much Starcraft 2 is over the entire world now and the money they can make through advertisement. Hell most of the Korean BW teams sponsers like Samsung would much prefer to be doing it global then just in Korea.
They see tournaments like GSL being watched constantly with Foreign fans paying and subscribing every month and even Kespa knows that they would do a better show and gain mroe fans then even GSL has now, think of the money. BW fans will follow, yeh the is some that wont but the majority would however much they moan to begin with.
Players like Jaedong, Bisu and all would offer so much more in sc2, the amount of things that have been noobed up in sc2 will give them even more flexibility in doing amazing micro and engagements and means that they will have more micro free to do fantastic moves.
The difference is BW is only in Korea and sponsership is slowly dying out, while Stararcft 2 is thriving in Europe and America and the rest of the world and also starting to rise in Korea. IF they all switch Stararcft 2 will go to another level and goodbye foreigners!!!
Lets just hope Bisu and all stick with protoss and dont jump ship to Terran as he flirted with in an interview

I am quite sure that Jaedong can micro SC2 mutas.
I am quite sure you don't know what I am talking about.
Muta micro is different in SC2 compared to BW. But microed mutas are still way more scary than sloppily controlled mutas. Of course Jaedong would need to re-learn to micro mutas since they behave differently.
Rather than taking about a waste of potential I would talk about opportunities. What if Jaedong switches and practices for 6 months? Can he defeat Nestea and DongRaeGu?
