I think my favorite thing to replicate will be medivacs, healed chargelots drops are gonna be fun.

This will be entirely one of the best strats possible with this, grab 3-4 colossus to you then NP from the safe range, no way they can get in close enough to the infestors at that point with their army without going right through the zerg's army.

Anyone have any ideas what the transformed hellions extra "durability" is?

I'm thinking maybe it loses its light classification and gains a point of armor or something. I don't see how its health could get changed upon transforming.

Will they ever be able to balance this stuff? The last thing zerg needs is another unit that spits out free units, see: infestor/broodlord. The thought of a flying defiler is going to give me nightmares. The terran units just seem like garbage honestly. The protoss units seem like garbage too, I don't really see any scary harass there, or anything that is going to let protoss take it's natural safely and on time (which is an issue in pvz and pvt imo)

I hope I turn out to be completely wrong and these units are all awesome and the game becomes very balanced. But I literally face palmed when I read the OP. This just looks like a bunch of people got drunk and threw out ridiculous ideas, and then every one stayed drunk for the next 12 months continuing to develop them. I predict they are going to have many "emergency" balance patches when people start figuring out how to abuse the hell out of this stuff.

One of the problems with announcing this is that it effectively turns Starcraft 2 right now into a lame-duck game. Why come up with new strategies when most of them are going to be invalidated/need to be heavily modified come HotS release? Are the games played today really going to be cared about 2-3 years from now, or are they going to be forgotten as "vanilla" games?

... You can't be serious, can you? BW had A LOT more "gimmicks." Although spells that encourage micro aren't "gimmicks" in any sense.

The dragoon was a terribly designed unit. Any unit that is terribly clunky for no reason and often glitches and fucks you over is not superbly designed. Besides, 99% of what you could do with a goon you can do with a stalker, it's just that you aren't fighting the same units.

Feels like Protoss really need more stable good units, not some gimmicks.

A real harass unit is pretty much needed, not just an "overseer" type of unit that won't actually kill any workers and you can't skill with. Not to mention that two units are actually removed as well, carrier and mothership.
I can no longer rest under the tree of wisdom, since you have axed down the roots feeding it.

Wait..did you just call the dragoon "superbly designed"? It was a hard to micro unit specifically because it's pathing algorithim was poorly designed. That was not on purpose, at all. It turned out to be a great unit sheerly by luck, not by purposeful design.

Seems pretty worthless tbh. Hellions mobility was always more useful in terms of survivability than HP was. It'll only be useful if the transformation time is pretty much zero. Any sort of delay on that and it'll only be used in big set-piece battles where Hellions are already not really useful.
