I dont like the collosus because it forces protoss into this tight ball of units in order to maximize it. I much prefer the multi pronged attacks and spreading out of units that would be possible with other units but not the collosus.

To be fair the terran units in Wings of Liberty, the terran expansion, were really cool. Ravens, Medivacs, reapers, thors.

It's only fair that Zerg gets some love in this one. I just hope we'll be getting suitable mothership/carrier replacements for Protoss in Legacy of the Void.

- Only 1 thor? Unless they buffed thors, why not just remove them from the game then? Even if they did buff them not why remove them anyways? They are completely replaced by the goliath.

- Shredder gives the terran a "defensive structure" that doesn't require marines I suppose. I have a feeling they might make this thing too OP though since it only works by itself. I got a feeling it will be able to kill near infinite zerglings alone, which is dumb.

- Battle hellion? Our worst fears come true. Pointless transformation. It will almost certainly have to sac dmg. Even if it doesn't, there is no advantage in giving up mobility for a hellion since if the workers run away you need to chase them. Unless this is Transformers 2 and they can transform instantly and at will, then this upgrade is as pointless as any upgrade in the entire game since nobody builds hellions to go into a stand-up fight or to give up mobility. Stupid.

Overall I love the Zerg, kinda like the protoss changes, and am really Meh about the terran ones.



Im hyped about Zerg as well, but I like the Terran changes more than the Protoss just because the benefits are more clear and the race doesnt need much help right now anyways. A goliath remake adds a lot to Terran mech, and since you've made hellions for harassment anyway the ability to not die instantly in a straight up fight is a helpful addition. The Thor change and Shredder are a bit WTF, I agree.

The tempest is really exciting for Protoss, as are the Nexus spells. But the Replicant and Oracle are just too off the wall to know how they'll end up impacting competitive play. I can see them useful, but they're not going to radically help Protoss compositions and nothing's been done (that we know of) to reduce the race's dependence on Colossi (unless Tempests can really be a new "backbone" unit, which given the emphasis on Air-to-Air damage seems unlikely)

I think HOTS is the "shot in the arm" that zerg needed. These new units and abilities look incredible, I wouldn't be surprised if zerg dominated for a while after release.

Yes. I play Random. I want to play Protoss. PvP stinks. It degrades into Colossus fights. I don't wnt Colossus fights. Hence, I don't play Protoss because 1/3 of my games are no fun. Win or lose, I don't have fun in PvP.

I think he means because the whole game will be changed dramatically, making it a whole new game. It's just how you look at it. I see it more as a SC 2.5 with LotV being 2.75. But I'm pretty baffled by Blizzard's choice to make such drastic changes, because I always thought of them to be pretty conservative when it comes to changing existing IP's. Being a Zerg player I do like them, love the Viper and the swarm host. I feel that with HotS the gameplay will be similar to Brood War.

I can't speak as to how useful the new units will be until i play with them, but a few thoughts:

The Viper's model looks COOL AS HELL. However, the "GET OVER HERE" spell really needs to have its animation tweaked. In the trailer you see a pair of them grab high ground collosi and it just looks ridiculous. I think it's a great idea and it will synergize well with zerg's lower range units. I think it's a much more balanced option against high tech T / P units than range 9 NP (which unfortunately got nerfed to the point of uselessness).

The burrowed thingy is pretty ugly though, I hope its model gets replaced

The protoss units have great looking models

The terran units look RETARDED. For the love of god please replace the goliath 2.0 model. That thing looks ridiculous.
