Seige unit, tier 2.5. Its the position in the zerg arsenal that seems best suited for this unit and a unit in particular. We already have late tier three Broods, they have longest build time when you think about it. Ultra lair can be built any time after hive, greater-spire needs spire then upgrade.

Expecting a morph upgrade in the roach den or hydra lair for this 2.5 unit.

Probably 200 minerals 100 gas or something. Its either aoe siege, or single target long range unit that can also attack air (less likely but hey).

I think it will most likely be a high range splash AA unit, as that is what Zerg really lack (unless you count the infestor). It will most likely be a little like Thors, probably horribly slow but strong vs mutalisks or lots of banshees.

Yea you're right, the head looks like Hydralisk, or even Lurker. Maybe it could be a slightly modified version of Lurker.

I hope it's not a siege unit, that's like the most unzerg thing ever; plus zerg has broods which are the most interesting siege unit I think.

Hopefully it's some anti air unit, and they're using it to replace the corrupter.

I have to say, both of these new supposed units look like total jokes. I hope they just took the outline of the actual units and added something to it just to fuck with everybody, because that basically looks like a lurker with a turtle shell.

It's obviously a Hidralisk evolution.

It has 2 claws, it has no legs, just a "tail" that morphed into a cannon. The head is just the same, I fail to see where people are finding "roach", it is a hidralisk. Now, what it will do with its new tail, that's the question!

I think someone on Reddit mentioned that it would be interesting if the unit had different roles depending on if it is burrowed or unburrowed.

Perhaps if it's unburrowed, it would be an anti-air unit as you mentioned.

However, if it's burrowed, it might become a positional, vs ground siege unit.

I rather there be a dedicated siege role unit than a slow roach that is a moving tank. Siege units allow defenders advantage and having a mainstay siege type unit for each race makes the game different (and better imo).

Yeah i don't think it will be a siege unit. Terran has tanks, Toss have Colossi and Zerg has Broodlord. And if we have to find a non-fitting unit between the siege units, that would be the colossi, since it's not slow like the other two (and siege units should conceptually be slow and/or fragile since they have long range)

IMHO it's a substitute for the roach. Roach isn't really liked, so maybe:

- Roach Removed
- Hydra back to T1 tweaked as the main damage dealer
- This as an evolution for the Hydra as a meatshield unit like the roach once was. Maybe as a special ability they burrow and form a wall with a lot of HP/armor as pseudo-forcefields. Or they can attack from burrowed too in some ways.


Maybe its because I am just so used to them now but I dont see why people want roaches out of the game completely. Also blizzard would never do that as we have already seen clips of the roach being used heavily in single player, and they wouldn't just take it out for no reason. Also I know firebats were used like that but roaches are a staple unit for all three matchups. They need to tweak the hydra but the roach is fine.
