But here is the real kicker: Hydralisks have a delay on there attack in that instead of being instant like a marines it needs to wait for the animation of the spines to hit the target before any damage is done, meaning that often time they lose out on attack initiative and do poorly in fights against marines. Not only that, but because of the Hydras attack animation you cannot even do the absurd marine style micro with them. The other thing that makes Zergs complain about their speed is the fact that Hydralisks are only useful very specific timing pushes. Against Terran, they just lose to everything. Against Toss, they are great until either Colossus or Storm comes out... which means against Certain builds they are useless come the 8-9 minute mark. Worse yet, you can't properly exploit such a window because it takes such a long time for them to traverse the map . If they moved faster, the timing window where you can do a decent hydra push with chances of success is much easier to hit. ...wow, I have a lot of resentment for the SC2 hydra... I meant just in the flash they are portrayed as incredibly slow, when in fact they are the same speed as siege tanks / most terran units (when off creep).
