Can u prevent poaching by offering a raise to your players?
No, but the teams who wants to poach needs to pay the player more salary.

Right now I only have $14k so I won't be expecting to getting a teamhouse and lawyer anytime soon :p Poaching really isn't as bad as people make it out to be, besides, there are a LOT of good young players going cheap on FA. I picked up 3 under 15 for 10-20$. You make money with poaching the only bad aspect is if they pay 1-2k for an amazing player you could sell for more on the market. When I see a 2800 ELO player with 9+ on all stats like my star player gets poached for 1.4k. Something is wrong. They changed poaching to make it more expensive but I still see some 2400-2600 ELO players getting poached for 3-4k. I don't even have a lawyer or a teamhouse. I don't want to lose my players considering all of them are around the age of 15 and my new wave of recruits at 11. If a 2800 ELO player with 9+ stats avg were to cost 15k for poaching then I'd take the risk of going level 4 but with poaching as it currently is I'm not thinking of going level 4 yet.

They have lawyers and they still lose their players for low amount of money. I can afford a lawyer but I don't want to take the risk yet. With all the new changes few moments ago I'll rather wait out and see how "expensive" poaching currently is for couple of days before I decide to go for level 4/5 promotion. If I dump my low ELO streamers I'll be sitting at 2180 ELO and I think I need like 2200 to get promoted to level 5. Just skip level 4 almost entirely then.

This is how you sound to me: "I don't want the system to abuse me(poaching) but I will abuse the system(purposely keeping low elo)", sounds pretty hypocritical. It is and I never denied that so what's your point? I'm open to just level to 4 and 5 but it should be relatively safe. Not so super risky if you aren't super rich and easy to poach like before. I don't mind poaching since it does happen RL (even though there are contracts) but it shouldn't be that easy (low amount of money needed to poach). I said that I'd be willing to just play normal if it weren't for the above reasons. Now there has been some changes but no one knows how different it is than before. Hence I'm waiting to see the results.

I've been getting similar results in my internal battles, where both players would go balanced, but the worse one will win. The game has an aspect of randomization about the outcomes of games (obviously, otherwise all series with the default strategies set will never go higher than 2:0 or 3:0 or whatever), and I think a great deal of these occurances may have to do with two specific factors: the "hidden" skill of the natural talent rating, or the fact that preparation for games has been implemented as a feature. Just my thoughts on what may be causing it, could be wrong.

Just my thoughts on what may be causing it, could be wrong. I'd hope "talent" wouldn't effect a game in such a large fashion but I'd forgotten that "prepare for upcoming game" was implemented. I wonder how much effect that has on the outcome and why would any manager decide to prepare for an upcoming game when they have such scrubby players? :/ It might be a problem with the battle system. Just took a look at a battle report for a different player of mine and at several points for minutes at a time he just stops making anything. For a minute and a half he sits there at 70 econ, 63 army doing nothing. Doesn't make a single unit. Just checked the second battle and it happens again. He sits at 50/0 for a minute and a half with no one attacking. This is messed up.

I mean I would accept that if you have 2 players with identical stats the one with more "natural" talent would win everytime, or nearly everytime, but it can't be THAT big of a boost. Even if the guy is at a 10 and my guy is a 1. Edit: Honestly I don't see why this "natural talent" thing is a hidden stat, just allow people to see it, what's the harm? It's like Blizzard and their hidden MMR. -_-
