Awesome news!

Sjow is joining Naniwa in Korea!
Hopefully he can beast it up!

I also hope that he can get the "Korean effect" and become a monster when he returns

http://www.team-dignitas.net/articles/news/Starcraft-II/303/SjoW-follows-NaNiwa-to-South-Korea/#.Tk7kpFiiR_4.twitter

...

The MLG/GSL exchange program will now make a dual Dignitas GSL appearance possible! NaNiwa already participated in this month's GSL Code A August, now he will be joined by his fellow countryman SjoW in next month's GSL Code A September! We are looking forward to seeing our players compete amongst some of the best Korean players in the GOM.TV studios!

at this pace F.United will be Sweden.United. Either way good luck to sjow, it'll be interesting to see how his 80 apm will hold up to the koreans(and no I'm not saying this to be spiteful, it's a diss or whatever).

We'll soon have all the top tier Swedish players in Korea :D

Only missing MorroW and Haypro

We got:
SaSe, Jinro, Thorzain, Naniwa, Sjow(inc). Would be awesome to see MorroW go to Korean and haypro doing his Korean comeback!

Then compete in the GSTL as Team Sweden <3

If only Morrow and Haypro could join up with them they would have enough of an army to claim a small part of South Korea.

Wouldn't surprise me, he's beasting lately.

So, right now, it stands with Sjow, Naniwa and probably IdrA taking the Code A seeds, I think. Looks good.

Apparently this TLO-house seems to have worked out great...

Morrow has descended into oblivion (compared to his status before), none of the players has been doing anything noteworthy lately, Ret has openly criticized the house and sjow leaves for better practice after a couple of months.

Well Naniwa IS training in Startale's house, unlike the other F. United guys. Maybe a merge on the horizon?

So so so so so excited to see sjow/nani in code A september, as it seems like Nani will beast it up. Wonder who the last 2 participants will be.

EDIT: I hope for his sake he's going right after MLG with Naniwa, I'd hate to see Sjow come into code A with jetlag (like Nani/Thorzain/Sase did this season). The time between the end of MLG and the next code A match could turn him into a beast.

So i'm sure someone has asked this question before but I can't find it and I doubt there's been a formal statement on it, but are the EG players (Huk/Puma until idra gets there) going to be playing in the GSTL as part of FU?

So many Swedes there now. SaSe, Jinro, Naniwa, Thorzain, Sjow.

They should start their own team, Swedes United. That would actually make for an excellent team.

Idra isn't going until October at the earliest, Thorzain and possibly others will be gone then.

  • According to the Liquidipedia, the top non-koreans are (in order):
    (P)HuK, (P)NaNiwa, (T)IdrA, (T)SjoW, (Z)Ret, (Z)SLush, (Z)Sheth, (P)KiWiKaKi, (P)Socke, (Z)HayprO, (T)TLO, (T)SeleCT
  • (P)HuK is already in Code S.
  • (P)NaNiwa, (T)ThorZaIN, and (T)Fenix are already in Code A spot from MLG Columbus.
  • (Z)Sheth forfeited his Code A spot in July.
  • (T)IdrA, (Z)Ret, (Z)SLush, (P)KiWiKaKi, (T)TLO, (Z)HayprO have all publicly stated (or already refused previously) that they won't go to Korea with a Code A.
  • Therefore, at best you're looking at (T)SjoW, (P)Socke, (T)mOoNan, and (T)SeleCT.
  • After those four, the players are: (P)CrunCher, (P)Wannabecool, (P)iNcontroL, (P)Tyler, (P)White-Ra.

Wrote this after MLG Anaheim. A few things changed since then. (T)IdrA confirmed to return to Korea, so he may be taking a spot. (P)NaNiwa , (T)ThorZaIN and (T)Fenix all got knocked out in first round, so they may need free spots again for another shot.
Thank God and gunrun.

Naniwa was going to stay even if he didn't get a new Code A spot since he's there to practice but nice if we get to see him in GSL also. ^_^

I would say Team Liquid is the strongest squad at the moment even without Huk. Watch TL in the GCPL and see how they do.

Dunno otherwise, I think Haypro is up for it if he gets it.

The first thing that came to my mind upon reading this was if/how badly the Korean street fighter intro voice will mangle his name. Looking forward to it and more talented foreigners in the GSL :D

There are 4 spots because the code S seed went to MMA.

Sjow/Naniwa and two others. I wonder if GSL will give Drewbie a spot even though A LOT of MLG people would have to decline.

Would LOVE to see Sjow/Nani/Socke/Select but I figure they would have announced Sjow/Select together. I'm gonna assume Sjow/Nani/Socke/Ret or Kiwi I guess

Does anyone know if he can be added to f.united gstl team during the current gstl season? that would be very nice, as currently the koreans on the team are utterly useless (with good reason, as they practice wc3 full time due to WCG). GL Sjow!

They could make their own team :p ha ha

well f.united is nearly fenix, naniwa and thorzain... hard to say but with playing wc3 i have to say lyn and moon rly bad at the moment and soccer never was top so its rly a 3 man foreign + some rnd korean team at the moment.

that team need buff ^^

btw: SaSe was in korea dont know if he going back again, CaRn is in korea since beginning if you wanna count him but idra IS NOT he said he perhaps go in oktober/november but just short time also ^^

i really think F.United is a good team and with a TRAINING lyn and moon they would be nice but at the moment they should make a real foreign team i mean imagine
SaSe Idra Huk Fenix Thorzain Naniwa Sjow xD sick that would be SICK! also you can add Puma as he is playing for EG like idra and huk by having jinro stay ogs/tl

Wait, Naniwa doesn't have to go through the Code B qualifiers for the next GSL? I thought he lost first round in Code A this season.

This is great, another foreigner taking sc2 even more serious. I dream that one day Korea, North America, and Europe have the same practice environments. Good luck to sjow and I can't wait to see him in GSTL and GSL.

IT'S SJOWTIME

He should already be used to the training house atmosphere from the pro house with Haypro TLO and Bischu - but this will surely be on another level.

I love the idea of South Korea being that special training dungeon where excellent EU/NA players go to level up their skills. Yeah, I'm a videogame nerd. :D

I don't think there is an official code B classification right? It's basically anyone that is eligible for the qualifier rite? I mean they let the whole FXO team in it, so...

I hope he can steal the Sjow. His determination really goes the Sjow that no matter what happens, the Sjow must go on. And I really hope that rekrul doesn't go around Sjow'ing him all the brothels like he did with TLO and Jinro because he has to really focus and Sjow the best if he was to make it to the GSL finals and the big sjow.

Idk if MLG/GSL ever came out and said if Select and whichever FXO guys are korean (I dont mean old fou guys I mean I think Moonan and or Slog are Korean) can get spots. They have to cut the line somewhere. Could Puma/Tondongho/Artist get a spot because theyre on EG/Dignitas/ReIGN? Well that wouldn't be fair to Koreans training in Korea would it?

EDIT: The only semi-logical thing I can think of as a cutoff point is if you are in a Korean clan you can't get the spot. This would be "fair" to the Koreans while still being "fair" to what is FXOKorea ( I know they're one team), while still allowing those with no Korean team ties, ie Puma/Select/Tondongho/Artist. Although that would lock out Slog and or Moonan as well

An IdrA vs Sjow match in Korea with Idra winning by rushing roaches would be hilarious, Sjow is going to be so good once he gets back to Europe, his APM and micro are going to skyrocket.

Otherwise it seems increddile unfair (even more then now) where you can train in korea and pick up a "free" code a in MLG if you happen to fall down without going through those brutal qualifiers.

About all this APM talk: Sjow peaks at 200+ APM, its not that he can't play fast. He just doesn't spam.

Goody for example has lowish APM even when stuff gets intense.

They can't draw the line with rather you're on a Korean team or not tho, because then some random Korean that isn't on a team (and manage to fly himself to MLG) would try to qualify for Code A at MLG instead of the qualifier

But yea, I agree there needs to be a well define line for the MLG exchange, which at the moment, seems to be very vague to the viewers.

I said Korean clans instead of teams. Because, from what Tastosis/Doa/Wolf/Moletrap talk about clans are relativly easy to join (Wolf had said he was in one and idk if he's higher than masters). If you aren't good enough to be in a clan then you probably wouldn't be good enough to get a Code A spot from MLG anyway.

This isn't the FAIREST way to do this, but its somewhat fair, unless it leads to good Koreans (that aren't on teams) leaving their clans and somehow self funding themselves a trip to MLG.

This is great news for the foreigner scene. I am really liking that these players are taking the initiative to go to Korea and train with the best. Hopefully more players will follow suite. Good luck, Sjow!

Wait, Naniwa doesn't have to go through the Code B qualifiers for the next GSL? I thought he lost first round in Code A this season.

He earned another Code A spot at MLG Anaheim.

I thought there is a rule about players in Korea aren't eligible for the Code A spots in the exchange program.

I think its about Koreans, not players in Korea.

Oh i see, would Select be able to take a spot then if he earns one?

Show nested quote +
I would just make it "You are in korea now? you can only get code S spot like the other ppl from there"
Otherwise it seems increddile unfair (even more then now) where you can train in korea and pick up a "free" code a in MLG if you happen to fall down without going through those brutal qualifiers.

This would also exclude Naniwa and co

I really don't want to start this discussion here but what gives Naniwa the right on that code a spot but DRG not if he reaches the same place?
From what i understood they added those spots so foreigners at least got a try in the GSL when they go korea without going through those qualifiers. Yet now some are there already what except skin color sepperates them from the rest?
They got a teamhouse, they got practice partners, they got the korean ladder laggfree.

Nani, Thorzain, Fenix, Jinro, Huk, Idra, Sjow, Drewbie, cArn, NaViSlavik (happyzerg), Sase.

I think Thorzain is coming back soon

Yeah, he said in an interview that he wouldn't be staying long term like nani and sase, but maybe he might've changed his mind after playing in the GSTL.

Unless Select is just about done studying, I doubt he would go back. If he is, having 3 Dignitas players there would be epic.

Wait, so does this confirm the infinite loop possibility of Nani?

As long as he bothers to attend MLGs, he will (most likely) be within top 4 foreigners and never lose Code A? Cause that would be sweet...

He has 150 apm now and I always love it when people say this because I look at it like this.
If he's so slow and handicapped why is he still so good and competitve? There must be something else than that makes up for his "lower apm".
I think it's just some smart or great way of looking at the game and be really efficient.
You cannot really learn that. And his apm already doubled, maybe he will be at 250 after Korea.
Who will be making the jokes then? Plus, its hard to put apm in perspective, by itself it means nothing.

Best of luck Jeffrey, think it's a great opportunity to go this moment in time because your countrymen are currently there. I really think that helps a lot in being comfortable abroad and able to do things together, like going out to dinner, stuff like that. Can't wait to see you improve, As mentioned above I think we will see that something special flourish. Have a safe and pleasant flight.

Wow awesome news!
Gl to Sjow.

And BTW, it seems MLG/GSL code A exchange is a great succes. First 3 non-koreans not already in code A/S are Naniwa, Idra and Sjow, of which two are confirmed to be taking the code A spot and Idra is very likely.

A wise choice if you are really serious about SC2. Looking forward to see the improved "no scouting" build, lol.

Do Nani and ThorZain still have their slots in Code A or do they have to go through eliminations?

Sick news, it's sjowtime =D

Sjow's always been awesome, and it's a testament to his drive and practice that he continues to remain relevant long after many people thought his initial mechanical limitations would see him fall off.

best of luck, fighting!~

Can somebody give me an overview who is in which teamhouse? I know where the Liquid and EG guys are. Sjow is with Naniwa and who? Where is Sase and where is Thorzain?

SaSe, Thorzain and Fenix are in We Made Fox house as far as I know.
Naniwa in ST* house? not 100% sure about this.

Oh snap! he's gonna 70apm kill everyone!

Have a safe and pleasant flight.

but still with his 150 apm ( I don't think he has that alrdy afaik) you could clearly saw the his last torunament appearance (MLG) that he's not that solid when it comes to multitasking and has a really bad reaction timing. Therefore I Have to agree that he could really benefit from the korean training by learning new strategies, refining his mechanics and increase his apm ( but only to the extent that he's able to multitask properly)

He might rise back to the top of european terrans, because his awesome strategies, gamesense and decision making are what's still keeping him in the prolevel imo.

They will surly improve, but its highly unlikely that they will achieve something there...unless like HuK they will stay there for 6+ months then maybe they will get into code S.

nope its simply because they have the most freetime and dont have jobs.
im not trolling but its the truth that almost all swedish players give up their lives
all ukraines dont go and almost all german and polish players go to school/college and have jobs.

Thx for all the kind words. I've been struggling alot with motivation for a long time now. I cant play 12 hours + like before without getting tired. I have lost the passion for the game but I still love the competition.

I think korea will help me be able to play almost as much as before and obviously improve alot since the general skilllevel is much better. In korea I will also be able to almost 100% focus on the game that isnt really possible in the swedish prohouse since theres no maid to clean, no cook to make food etc.

Also one thing that I need is someone to tell me what to do and when to play because I feel like I need some discplin. Dont get me wrong I love beeing my own boss, but after playing poker for 4 years and now sc2 for 1 year I need a bit of a change.

The main goal for my trip is not to play code a but to learn new work ethics, get some rutine in my daily scheduele and improve alot and also learn the korean progamer lifestyle. I dont wanna go to the gomtv house since it feels like it will be the same as my current prohouse.
I planned to stay for 1.5 month but I might extend it.

I also want to say farewell to the guys in the prohouse, its alittle early but ill do it anyway.

Bischu: I love you man, funny as hell and when u get rid of youre nervousness you will pwn nerds so easy.

Morrow: You have always been alittle of my inspiration with your work ethics and mechanics ever since we clashed in infernoonline 1 year ago. Dont get lazy now work hard and u will get back to where you once were.

Haypro: husse! love you even tho you are liquid You are a great player but you need more confidence. 50% of the competition is about the mindset. Work on it and you will be a beast.

Naugrim: After you recovered practice hard and become a real progamer. u did it in BW and everybody knows BW is 10x harder than sc2

Cyto: work hard as you are doing now and dont party too much and u will be a top EU player in notime

I had great time here and if we are all living in sweden next year lets start a new prohouse(korean style) with good internet connection this time!

Yeah, but i thought that was just for a month? and he ended the post with "I had great time here and if we are all living in sweden next year lets start a new prohouse(korean style) with good internet connection this time!", which indicates that they're shutting down the prohouse?

As someone who played poker for 3 years I can definitely understand this. It's so easy to slack off when you set your own schedule. After that I discovered having some daily routines is highly underrated.

If you won't be staying at the GOM house, where? Sounds like you want to try to stay at a team house, anything planned?

You seem like a very cool guy so I wish you all the best, good luck in Korea! Most of all I hope you can find the passion for the game again though.

nope its simply because they have the most freetime and dont have jobs.
im not trolling but its the truth that almost all swedish players give up their lives
all ukraines dont go and almost all german and polish players go to school/college and have jobs.
so dont pose like a kid to feel better
sjow goes because he wants and not because he qualified through an european tournament or so.

Maybe one day little bro Denmark will send ONE guy to Korea. Until then, stay jelly brah, real classy.

its simply the truth.i mean it IS the truth:D im not jealous at all.
of course some swedes try to protect it but lets be honest please;)

Rationalising is cool

Why are you speaking of things you know nothing about. Thorzain was in university when he won TSL3 for example SjoW and Naniwa doesn't have "jobs" because Stacraft2 is their job, they make their living out of it. Are you saying they should apply for Uni just for the fuck of it when they can live off something they love doing and are passionate about?

How is "giving up your life" = Do something you love and get paid for it? Doesn't make sense to me. Just wreaks of jealousness and you're very uninformed.

Sjow goes because he EARNED a Code-A spot by placing top4 foreigner in MLG. What are you talking about :/

EDIT: Claash in every post I read on teamliquid you are thrashing Swedes all over the place, what's your real problem really?

I had the chance to talk to SjoW about his time there:

I don't have high expections for my GSL debut, I know the competition in Korea is on another level and in general my practice isn't the greatest. What speaks for me is probably they might not know about my style, while Koreans have pretty similiar style. Hopefully I will be able to practice some on the Korean ladder before my first game.

Another thing is that I won't focus 100% on Code A. The primary goal for my trip is to become a better player. So nervousness won't be a factor.

Select IS korean tho, he's just in US for study (and to own sc2!).

SaSe and Drewbie is going there. I have a feeling that Select will join up with Naniwa and Sjow!

Not anytime soon, he has mentioned that he has some visa problems.

Won't the S.Korean government force him to do the army or some shit if he goes?

Yeah if he still has his Korean citizenship and if he's 20 years or older and never been in the Korean military... he most likely would get red flagged for going into the military.

Then again I don't know his personal situation....

Stop the arguing and be happy please. Danish people seem jealous and Swedes keep trolling...

Best of luck to Sjow, and I really hope he stays for a while so he can improve as a player, and not just give a quick stab at GSL to see how far he can go and then go home.. Especially as none's made it far on their first go (atleast not since the quality bump in 2011).

nope its simply because they have the most freetime and dont have jobs.
im not trolling but its the truth that almost all swedish players give up their lives
all ukraines dont go and almost all german and polish players go to school/college and have jobs.
so dont pose like a kid to feel better
sjow goes because he wants and not because he qualified through an european tournament or so.

of course some swedes try to protect it but lets be honest please;)

Great to see your posting here Merz, always cheering for you! And regarding Claash, who can blame him? I mean living right next to a country where not everyone smokes, people pwn at SC2(and games/sport in general actually!) and there are more beautiful women then you can imagine can't be that easy

And oh, best of luck to Sjow!!!

Flags?
I have no idea what you are talking about. My best friend lives in denmark so we go visit eachother pretty often, we have both commented on how diffrent our 2 cultures are atm, they didnt use to be. Denmark with their racist/patriotic gouvernment and Sweden with our political correct to a fault culture.
We both find it sad. He wants more PC in denmark to stop the racism that is going wild, I want more intellectual freedom in Sweden than the PC-culture allows.

Flags.
Its not about flags. I have no idea what you are trying to say, that there are flags in Sweden? Less so in most other countries I would say, it it matters to you. And why would it?
Anyways, Swedes mostly dont care about danes, danes mostly dont care about swedes, we have a good neighbour relation but norway and finland are the real brothercountries of Sweden. The only ones hating, are a few racist danes that cant stand the non-racist politics of Sweden. That may be as it may, but its immature to bring it out of the political arena into others, as SC2 and the liquid forums.
Just another noob

I don't want to shit on you, but what you said is:

1. Disrespectful, for obvious reasons.

2. Completely out of place, given that you went to Korea yourself and both players you dissed have posted better results than yourself.

:/

Thanks mate, I wont party as much for sure, now when ur gone loool. Hope ur doing great in korea, no doubt u wont. ITS FUCKING SJOWTIME!

I don't want to shit on you, but what you said is:

1. Disrespectful, for obvious reasons.

2. Completely out of place, given that you went to Korea yourself and both players you dissed have posted better results than yourself.

:/

In Hungry Hungry Hippos there are no such constraints—one can constantly attempt to collect marbles with one’s hippo, limited only by one’s hippo-levering capabilities.

Haypro is definatly the most trolling player left in Liquid after Huk left. He's such a low profile person you almost can't tell.

Korean effect will definitely make him someone to look out for in major "foreignor" tournies. I'm convinced he'll have the same gameplay discipline as Huk and the other TL guys who went/still are in the ogs-TL house. HWAITING!

Holy moly thats a lot of quote-ceptioning.
About the content, I don't see how sending players to Korea is considered lowering standards unless I'm totally retarded and don't understand something here.

If you're going to spew out random bullshit then i'd rather have you write nothing at all -.-

SjoW is the 3rd most successful foreigner not living in korea behind Naniwa and White-ra. He has taken the top4 foreigner spot two MLGs in a row now. How is that tier2? -_-

Obviously i'm biased but you're still giving him too much crap.

EDIT: Actually 4th most successful foreigner now, Socke just passed him.

I'm happy to see this since I always thought Sjow is one of the best terrans EU had besides Demuslim and TLO who both had to suffer from illness the past few months. Also his TvT against Bomber was a close call, so why not give it a shot in korea. I'm sure he will improve a lot!
Another nice thing to notice is the amount of top foreigners in korea at the moment. SC2 is evolving with every player we send there and comes back to share the tactics!

Good luck there Sjow! :D

I just realised that dignitas will have 3 people in KR next month. Sjow naniwa and select! They are continuing their domination of blizzcon with their korea campaign. Maybe the will have enough players for gstl if they get some mercenaries!
