According to blizzard it was an imbalanced map...

That's a very interesting statistic that Zerg is heavily favored even factoring in close spawns.

My head just did a 360 and snapped off.
What?

gosh... they shoulda kept metalopolis and make it like LT in brood war. ppl used and played on that map for sooooooooooooooo long.

I'm happy that Metalopolis LE is gone, the choice was either disabling it or removing close spawns. The map was simply too imbalanced with the 1/3 chance of drawing them, I would have vetoed it if Blizzard's didn't have so many other awful maps.
I wish they would consider some of the community maps for the pool, though. Even adding more GSL ones would be nice, I think Dual Sight in particular would be a good addition.

DQ, Slag Pits and Scrap station are all awesome removals. Metalopolis.. not sure whether I like it being removed or not.

I think it is most likely caused by the 3rd that can be attacked from 2 fronts and the gold which can be sieged by brood lords.

As a diamond level zerg my self I can 100% disagree with this logic. Its really REALLY hard to win against a equal skilled player in close position as zerg. Apparently blizzard statistics don't match up with what I've seen and felt my self... but its their game

I just can't understand why blizzard thought metalopolis was imbalanced when the positions WERE NOT close.

Disabling Metalopolis close spawn makes things too predictable? WHAAAAAAAAAAT? Have they even played this game let alone the map? Is dayvie the only one playing on ladder for blizzard and has he finally developed a fear for macro-oriented games? For crying out loud..........
As for the changes, I'm fine with seeing slag, dq and scrap go. However, having played on the new maps on PTR, I'm not expecting much from them. Easiest map vetos of my life.

Metalopolis? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Glad they removed Slag Pits and Delta, hate those maps
Also, the names for the new maps are pretty ridiculous, its gonna take a while to memorize >_>

Old maps get replaced. That's how it goes. The question is more if the new maps will be interesting. Also when are they going to remove xelnaga or at least tournaments.

Sad about Metalopolis...Very, very sad. Hopefully the new maps are good. :/

well i'm happy for the other 3, so can't complain when they reached a 3/4 accurancy, quite good for blizzard atm :p

Tal’darim Altar, has a heavy (60%+) bias toward zerg at the highest levels of play. ~ Which means they didnt just pull stats straight from GM. They pulled stats subjectively. It's easy to pull stats on 1 map in a certain context like they did. What exactly does "highest level" mean, Tournaments? top 500? top 10? top 200? They didn't give a number at all just random % that don't mean a lot towards balance.
u guys are reading it wrong. It's not 60% on metal.
Also its stupid to remove metal for close spawn but not remove shattered temple which has the same exact problem.
|
It's weird that they are going to remove Metal, however I don't understand the rage on Backwater Gulch. I do not particularly like this map, but I don't find it horrible or anything. I am pretty neutral about it.
Gotta love they took out Monsoon though. That map gave me nightmares. As well as Megaton.

I hope for more ICCUP or GSL maps in the future. Bel'shir beach is totally awesome in both design and balance (I think at least, but what do I know).
|
Thank christ they are getting rid of metalopolis. That map has so many frigging flaws it's ridiculous how long it's been around. Thank you blizzard!
|
for me it was either metalopolis, typhon, or xnc to be removed as the 4th removal. i'm ok with metalopolis, though i would have preferred typhon. metal was a good map, but it's nice to try to circulate some newer maps as well. not too butt hurt about it myself

Hmm seems intresting.
I would like to see the pictures of the new maps.
