Meta has a 60% + bias for zerg including close spawns....how interesting....makes my Terran heart smile a little.. ^_^

To be honest I'm much more sick of Xel’Naga Caverns then I am Metalopolis. Shame to see it go. Hope the new maps are good, only have room to veto one of them, which I'm sure I'll have to do. T T

Hmm why not just keep metal in and have more maps I don't like that the map pool is so super small.

yeah, being one internationally accepted as balanced (without close spawn, i guess zergs wont miss that) and played in every single tournament, it is kinda meh, but i guess it is okay if they still use it in tournaments, which is what it matters for the pro/semi-pro level.
The ladder is good to have new maps now and then instead of the same pool, so i guess we will see more of this in the future seasons, although i would love if Blizzard would make a effort to try and use more GSL iCCup maps. It could be a racio of 2 blizzard/1gsl/1iccup new map per season, it would be pretty good.
Edit: Well, seeing the post of blizzard with reasoning about the decision of removing metalopolis what impress me the most is the 60% wr for zergs even with close spawn enable. :O?

wtf they removed metalopolis and kept backwater gulch and typhon peaks? Noooooooooo! Meta was a decent map, much better than those other 4 player maps.

Metalopolis is definitely one of my favorite maps. There's no fucking gimmick to that map. It's simply good and has a robust, long lasting design. Yeah it MAKES SENSE TO REMOVE IT.

Yes to backwater but no to metal?!?! This makes me very sad hopefully they at least remove close positions from shattered. Then it will be the best map in the pool imo.

1vs1 ladder maps look solid, I'm gonna start 1vs1 again ^^ I'd have been happier if GSL maps were added though

Even if a map is awesome like Metalopolis, you can't keep it in the rotation for too long. It was the same in BW were many of the awesome maps still only had a lifetime of a few seasons before being replaced by something new. Partly to keep things fresh and partly to make it so the maps don't get completely figured out by the players. Don't worry; in the future players of SC2 will be able to play games on Metalopolis and have the same kind of nostalgia many BW players have for maps like Python, Destination, Medusa, Andromeda, and Fighting Spirit to name a few.

The real reason why they removed Metalopolis was because there weren't enough destructible rocks on that map. "Balancing" it means putting in more destructible rocks.
