Keep the mindless hate from this thread. A well argued post is fine, frothing-at-the-mouth hate is not. |

If you dont like it.. Dont watch, is it that hard?
Personally, I feel that this obviously isnt the best tournament ever. But I watch to see good SC2 gameplay, not to be wow'd by production quality, so Im fine.
This!

The booths are super small and the stream sound is off but the games are good so far!

I did not pay for this season, all I can say is that I sure as hell WILL pay for the next! This is awesome, great work guys

Just like the regular season got better as it went on, I'm sure the finals will get better over the next few days, and Way better next season. I say, great job so far. Can't wait for more.

The potential that the NASL has is unbelievable. This is not an easy production, give them support and we will have a TOP class tournament in upcoming years.
Also, The games are AMAZING, as well as the competition and casting. So once the kinks get fixed this is going to be unbelievable. Stop jumping onto the hate train so early, shit. Why does everybody have to be dicks

Sorry to plague you NASL but this is skeletons you should've rinced from your closet since the start of the season, not at the main event...
Looks nice, really want to meet boxer sometime, tell him what a great person he is.

rofl at those booths. they look so funny.

Great games, I'm super disappointed with the sound setup. The audience gets picked up way too much on the stream. I like to hear the cheering, but I don't want to hear exactly what ever random guy yells. There's a lot of dead air too, which hurts the viewing experience a lot.
Amazing games though, NASL has a good future if they can have final games of this quality.

If you are complaining you probably have no experience with setting up such a big event like this.
Overall it comes across as if a LOT of time went in the preparation. Making everything completely streamlined and perfect not only takes a lot of work, but most of all it takes a lot of experience. They are getting the experience right now that is needed to make season two much better.
My personal advice would be to attract/hire an experienced person who is in charge of the whole thing so everything gets coordinated well.
Anyway, keep it up NASL!
PS. I like the fact that you hear the audience. It makes the experience more alive and gives the feeling that you're really there.

This post sums up precisely why it is so bothersome. For all the money people paid for subs + the investment they got + the stock the SC2 community put into this, you'd expect something more than an amateur first effort. Doing a dry run of the tournament or bringing in people to consult on basic design decisions would not be all that difficult.
They are supposed to be professionals and a production company doesn't need extensive SC2 experience to put something like this together and TEST it out before it goes live. IGN Pro League and other tournaments have shown you can get it at least near right directly out of the gate.
Some of the mistakes here aren't really from a lack of experience or technical glitches. They are pretty much inexcusable oversights and I'm completely baffled the people involved in this allowed some of these decisions to go forward.
I too think NASL has a lot of potential, but to write off people's criticisms as just "being a dick" or "bitching" is so off-base. NASL needs to hear these criticisms and take them to heart if they want to improve their product going forward. I obviously want them to be successful, but it's also very important for them to hear a) that people are bothered by their production so far and b) what exactly about it bothered them. I simply hope they are listening! (And I think they are)

My specific critique, was that when you look at the prize pool, and then you compare this production quality to that of tournaments that also have huge prize pools, as well as many well-run events that had much less prize money that this, the NASL is severely severely lacking. Charging $25 for season 1 sends the message that they already have things figured out. They should have done something similar to what IPL did. Recognize that your first season is going to have flaws, advertise it as a proof of concept, size it down a bit, and offer it for free.
Instead, they layed it all on the table and went all out, charging $25 for what was being called the "biggest and the best". You can't do that then defend them by saying "Well it's there first season, its hard to put on events, don't be so harsh"
So in short, the thing that bothers me is the ratio of Prize $$$ to Production Quality.

They closed the stream chat because people are giving them constructive criticism

I don't care how "difficult" it is to get something running somewhat good. This is a professional tournament and if you are going to charge money, it better be professional quality.
I understand small hiccups here and there, audio too loud or too quiet for a small time, maybe some delayed camera switches or awkward interviews, but NASL has gone far beyond this. Bad observers, terrible audio quality, microphone problems every time they change who is talking, tiny booths, 2 hour delays, poor player cameras, bad caster microphones, incredibly shaky main stage cam, terrible lighting, a bland background, ridiculously long intros...
It doesn't take a professional to make sure the above doesn't happen.

Joke coverage I have my volume on MAX and I can hardly hear anything????

this steam is such jokes, so funny

MLG can make HD free for all viewers why can't NASL... 360 is so shitty like atleast 480p is watchable.
|
. You guys forget Boxer is present = stop qq.

NASL, i will always keep coming back. Nobody should give up forever and ignore other seasons because of this one. As for now, I can't really stand the stream and their production so I'm not really watching haha but i'll check back later to see if they've sorted it out.

Welll ...
I missed the drama that apparently kicked off the first part of this Finals.
But I tuned in just now, and the Morrow / July match was sick. I have no doubt the core *purpose* of this tourney (the competition) is going to be kick ass.
That said - when you are putting on a show for people that uses any kind of tech - a LAN tourney, a band, DJing whatever - eventually you learn the golden rule:
ALWAYS. TEST. YOUR. FUCKING. GEAR. =)
Lesson hopefully learned. I think they will work it out (its not a hard rule to follow)
