Ofcourse Blizzard responds to "public account sharing" , they earn less if account sharing becomes "cool" and normal.
If a pro does it (and very well "every" pro does it) its not a big deal ; it actual helps the game more , as the players contribute way more to the game than the "randoms" of Blizzard Support do.
Right now, a lot goes wrong within Blizzard, decisions are actual bad, decisions that dont directly affect sold games ; but regardless it makes players unhappy and theirs really way way more annoying parts in the game that "should" be taken more serious than this.
If something radically changed in Blizzard mindset, than its the idea to earn as much money and remove more and more of a game everyone loved, just because it earns a bunch of extra bucks to make your game worser in a form , its totally ironic how you can sell more and earn more, for a product that gets less and less of what the actual consumer would like to get.
Something that keeps Blizzard alive in this view is that pretty much any "other" gaming producer also wants to jump on the WoW cash cow ; but they care less and less for the "actual" game ; money is bigger than to aim for a perfect game.
Maybe that will change in future, maybe it will get even worser.
But no matter what, we will get private servers for Sc2 , we get more and more cracked versions with offer LAN support, and more and more modifications on the MPQ data ; Blizzard can not do a shit about that, and any try is more annoying than helpful.

What a joke:/ Glad no one was banned though.

People are silly to think that they would do nothing. You aren't even supposed to account gift, I've let GMs on world of warcraft know I wasn't the original owner the account, and they basically told me: I'm going to go pretend I didn't hear that.
However if you do it so publically, a clear violation of the TOS, then it would be like they are playing favorites with pros if they just allowed them to do so without at least warning them.
This was a completely public event, I believe they wouldn't give a rats ass if it were any other way that were private.

Come on, Blizzard. This is just petty, man.

With Riot and LoL owning Blizzard and SC2 in viewership you would think Blizzard would want to put themselves in the spotlight in a more positive way. I don`t think this is the way to do it. If it weren`t for these pro players entertaining me on a nightly basis I would have very little to do with SC

IMHO, Blizzard needs to back off. Who are they to tell me what to do with my 60 bucks?
They're gonna ruin it with their fanbase if they keep chargin out the ass for little things like this. You tell me, what the fuck does it matter to you if for an hour someone hops on my computer and fucks up my MMR? It doesn't matter to me. It should matter even less to those greedy little fucks.
There's gotta be somethin we can do to stop this. WE ARE THE PEOPLE.

whats funny is that since HuK and TLO are top pro players ppl start a riot and rage while calling blizzard idiots. but if this happens to anyone else no one would bat an eye.
rules are rules and not even pro players are immune from those rules. ppl need to understand that..... pro players have to follow the rules of the ToS just like everyone else. if blizz starts giving exceptions then that would be majorly unfair to other players that bought and play this game.
|
I'll be short. I don't like what Blizzard did there, and I guess a lot of people share my opinion. Well, enough on this thing as I respect TL, and I don't want to flame more.

Remember when we didn't have to pay for more than one account for cross server play, or unlimited account creation? Now we have to PAY to change names? And now we can't share what WE bought? Ridiculous.

yes u bought the game, but there is something called the ToS and you agreed tho those terms and are bound to those rules. pro players should not be exempt from that.
people really need to start reading the ToS when they buy something instead of just blindly pressing agree without reading a single word.

No, it is you who needs to understand what is the fucking purpose in having rules in the first place.

Can anyone explain why HuK used TLO's account?
The OP says HuK's rating was too high to find a game. But wouldn't TLO's rating be just as high?
But it then goes on to say the the account was used for Custom games. But any account can be used for custom games, so I don't see why HuK needed to use TLO's account for custom games.
Also, doesn't the matchmaking criteria widen as search time increases?

TLO has carpal tunnel and he is taking a break from the game to recover. huk was keeping him from dropping out of GM

On the one hand, if you bought a pizza, you have the right to share it with anyone you want. On the other hand, there is some kind of contract between the player and Blizzard as you accepted their rules (ToS or EULA, whatever it's called, I don't read it anyway). Admittedly, Blizzard has responded legally, but that doesn't mean I completely agree with this policy.

And that sounds bad.

We are quickly advancing towards the point where Blizzard becomes an obstacle to the growth of their own game as en esport. When that happens, I pray that the community finds a way to get rid of them.
|
...why would TLO's rating be as high as HuK's?

Really this is more about Blizzard being douche bags because they can. It is not hard to handle this situation, uphold the ToS and still save face. Merely make a press release AFTER the tourney along the lines of:
"It has been brought to our attention that some prominent pros have been sharing accounts. While strictly against the ToS and listed as a ban worthy offence, we have so far not banned anyone for account sharing. We ask that the pro community limit their sharing as much as possible and specifically refrain from playing ladder games on accounts not linked to their B.net ID. We request this because the integrity of our ladder is at stake if pros are laddering on accounts that are not their own, and this has the utmost importance to us since our premier competition (BlizzCon) relies on ladder data for invites.
Regarding the rest of the community we still stand by our ToS. While we are tolerant of friends trying the game on other accounts, or sharing within small family units, we are still strongly against the type of sharing that is widespread. Again, while we have not banned anyone for this offence yet, we reserve the right to do so in the future as is stated in the ToS.
Thanks for your time, GL HF everyone!
(PS we will fix the ladder soon(tm) we promise.)"
They really need to get some good PR people to go with their good lawyers...
